With the rapid development of industry in our country,demand for electricity has increased dramatically.Because of the pollution of the environment and the shortage of land,the Eastern China is no longer appropriate to build new coal-fired power plants.For alleviating the pressure of using Electricity in Eastern China,West-East electricity transmission project has been put forward.This project is to build new coal-fired power plants in the western China and transmit electricity to east through the high voltage power grid.The application of insulating materials is the key technology in the construction of high voltage power grid.Because of the excellent electrical properties and good processability,epoxy resin occupies an important position in the field of insulating material.The high voltage transmission method requires for the excellent performance of insulating materials,especially the high decaying rate of surface charges on epoxy,which has a significant influence on the insulation properties of the material.Recent studies have found that the addition of nanoparticles in the epoxy resin can effectively improve the electrical insulation properties of epoxy resin,as well as some other performances.In this work,tubular halloysite(HNT),flake organic montmorillonite(OMMT)and spheroidal alumina(Al2O3)were added into epoxy resin to prepare epoxy composites.By analyzing the composites microstructure,thermal property,surface wettability and electrical performance,it was found that the addition of flake OMMT in the epoxy resin could effectively improve charge dissipation rate.When the mass fraction of OMMT is 1%,the OMMT/Epoxy composite showed higher properties,higher breakdown strength,higher charge dissipate rate,lower dielectric constant and lower dielectric loss than the pure epoxy resin.While there showed little improvement in the electrical properties of the composites with adding more than 1%OMMT.In comparison,the addition of tubular HNTs and spherical Al2O3 in epoxy resin rarely improved the electrical properties of epoxy composites.
