Abstract/Summary:
The "13th Five-Year" is the key period for China to achieve its 2020 target for controlling greenhouse gas emissions,under the general trend of energy conservation and emission reduction in China,the industrial sector that accounts for more than 70% of the country’s total carbon emissions is the starting point for reducing energy consumption,improving energy efficiency and controling carbon emissions.In 2016,China’s carbon dioxide emissions fell by 0.7%.However,due to economic recovery,industrial recovery,increased coal combustion and reduced rainfall,China’s carbon emissions will rise for the first time after three consecutive years of decline since 2014.The status quo of carbon emissions and the development of low-carbon economy put forward higher requirements for the energy saving and emission reduction activities of the industrial sector.Especially for Jiangsu,a large energy consumption province with large industrial economy,rapid economic growth and high carbon emissions,accelerating the process of carbon unlocking in the industrial sector and improving corporate low-carbon production performance are effective ways to achieve industrial low-carbon transformation and upgrading.Therefore,it has a crucial impact on the completion of the emission reduction targets in Jiangsu Province to analyze the specific unlocking path and to explore the low-carbon economic growth model by studying the evolution characteristics of industrial carbon unlocking,In view of this,this paper takes the industry of Jiangsu Province as the research object and takes the evolution characteristics of carbon unlocking as the framework.Firsty,this paper measures and describes the status quo of carbon emissions through the energy consumption data of industries and sub-industries from 2005 to 2016 with comparing the differences between provinces in the Yangtze River Delta region;Secondly,this paper conducts a quantitative assessment of the unlocking effect of industries and subdivided industries with the decoupling model,and examines the dynamic evolutionary process differences of carbon unlocking in industries and sub-industries to investigate the factors affecting the industrial carbon unlocking with the LMDI model.Based on the survey questionnaire data and the structural equation model,this paper establishs an integrated model of carbon unlocking impact factor from the perspective of internal and external enterprises,and analyzes the factors affecting the industrial enterprises low-carbon production performance and the interrelationships between them.The conclusions of theoretical research and empirical analysis are as follows:(1)The status of industrial carbon unlocking in Jiangsu Province is gradually improving,while the subdivided industries show evolutionary characteristics of different carbon emission intensity,insufficient stability and continuity of the unlocked state.According to the carbon emission intensity and carbon unlocking state,the 36 industries during the industrial inspection period can be roughly divided into three categories: industries of low carbon emission with relatively stable carbon unlocking state,and their carbon emission intensity converges at a lower level while falling at different speeds;industries of moderate carbon emission which have a greater impace on the overall trajectory of the carbon unlock,its carbon emission intensity isdecreasing faster,but the difference between the industries is obvious;industries of high carbon emission in which carbon unlock has achieved significant progress,its carbon intensity declines slower and concentrates at higher levels.(2)As the empirical aspects of influencing factors,from the perspective of the industrial sector,optimizing energy intensity and industrial structure can slow carbon emissions growth,both of which are the main driving factors for decoupling carbon emissions from economic growth,and the inhibitory effect of economic output,energy consumption structure,and population size on carbon unlocking gradually weakens;From the perspective of industrial enterprises,government factors,technological factors,and social factors have a positive effect on the low-carbon production performance of enterprises.Among them,social factors have the most significant impact on the low-carbon production performance of enterprises,followed by technical factors and government factors.The influence of internal factors and market factors on low-carbon production performance is not significant.At the same time,the five influencing factors are closely related to each other.Finally,on the basis of empirical results,suggestions were proposed from the macro and micro perspectives for low-carbon upgrading and industrial carbon unlocking to promote the development of low-carbon economy faster and better.
