C5 petroleum resin is a kind of thermoplastic resin obtained by catalytic polymerization of the C5 distillate,which is a by-product of the production of industrial ethylene.It is widely used in adhesives,coatings,rubber,road marking paints,inks,papermaking and other fields.Due to the abundant unsaturated bond,and high Cl-,S2-content existing in C5 petroleum resin aftert polymerization reaction,the color of as-prepared C5 petroleum resin is dark and its thermal stability is poor,which limits its application.At present,hydrogenation is the most effective and universal method to upgrade the C5 petroleum resin and also increase the value of C5 petroleum resin.The synthesis and application of C5 petroleum resin was introduced,and the key issues in hydrogenation technology and the research progress of hydrogenation catalysts were summarized in this thesis.The effects of preparation conditions and reduction conditions of Ni-based catalysts on its hydrogenation performmance for C5 petroleum resins were investigated.The catalysts were characterized by BET,TG-DSC,H2-TPR,XRD,SEM and other methods.The results showed that MgO-Al2O3 supported catalyst showed higher performance than MgO and Al2O3 single oxides.With the composite carrier calcined at 500?for 4 h,the catalyst calcined at 500 ? for 3 h,the MgO content of 20 wt%,the Ni loading of 35 wt%,the catalyst prepared by single impregnation method and reduced at 600 ? for 3 h,the highest hydrogenation activity of the catalyst was obtained.In this thesis,the hydrogenation conditions of C5 petroleum resin were also investigated.The optimal hydrogenation conditions were as follows:reaction temperature of 260 ?,liquid hourly space velocity of 1.0 h-1,hydrogen-oil ratio of 800,and the pressure of 6Y7 MPa.The 220-hour longevity of the catalyst was investigated.It was found that the Ni crystal phase on the surface of the catalyst was stable.Even though the specific surface area and pore diameter were reduced,the catalyst still exhibited good activity.The hydrogenation rate and Gardner color were kept at about 95%and 2#,respectively.The fresh and deactivated Pd/Al2O3 catalysts were characterized by ICP,BET,XRD,FT-IR and SEM.The causes for deactivation of catalysts were discovered.Surface sintering,carbon deposit,sulfur intoxication and Pd leaching were the major factors resulting in the decativation of C5 petroleum resin hydrogenation catalysts.
