Petroleum resin is a kind of synthetic resin, which is the products of C5C9 olefins and aromatics as the main components through direct polymerization or polymerization with catalysts in it.C5 Petroleum resin is a functional Petroleum resin by C5 fraction about the yield of 1417%of ethylene assembly as the main composition to generate. After hydrogenation modified,C5 Petroleum resin has a very wide range of applications, can be applied to adhesives, printing ink, paint and many other industries. In this paper, the main object of this experiment is Ni based catalyst, catalyst prepared using impregnation method and through the tiny evaluation system to evaluate its performance.Catalysts were characterized by means of H2-TPR?XRD?TG and other characterization. The catalysts of C5 Petroleum resin hydrogenation experiments on the evaluation of the study from various aspects, including the loading of the active component, the choice of the carriers, additives added and the adding amount, the preparation conditions, the pore structure and reaction conditions, etc. The results of experiments show that loading of Ni in the optimal catalyst is 25?%,the best carrier is Al2O3 and the best calcinations temperature is 450?.In addition, large aperture is in favor of C5 Petroleum resin hydrogenation reaction. The proper amount of additive of MgO can contribute to the activity and selectivity.Additives of La and Zr have little effect on the performance of catalysts. On the investigation to the reaction process conditions find that when the reaction temperature is 260?280??pressure for 8MPa and airspeed for 1h-1,hydrogenation conversion rate is highest, but continuious operation or not have little impact on it.This experiment by analyzing the reasons of activity decline of Ni based catalyst come to the conclusion that part of the reason is that after a period of reaction, some organic material adhesion on the surface of catalyst and blocked its channel makes the catalyst surface area decreaced?channel reduced, the accumulation of carbon deposition in this process is also one of the reasons causing the loss of catalyst activity.
