The linear guide rail is an important part of mechanical device and is widely used in precision equipment, aerospace and especially machine tool equipment. The precision of guide rails influences the mutual positional relationship of the forming movements, which in turn affect the precision performance of machine tools. It has an indispensable influence on improving the quality of mechanical products and the development of the mechanical industry.Although the precision of the linear guide has formed in its manufacturing,in a reasonable assembling process, assembling methods and mounting adjustments can not only reduce the difficulty of manufacturing, but also improve the accuracy of the linear guide and the reliability of the working process.Due to the lack of emphasis on the assembling and adjustment of the linear guide, domestic and foreign enterprises have no specific adjustment methods. This paper has systematically demonstrated the investigations on assembling method and the adjustment experiment for linear guide.Firstly, the theoretical basis of guide rail adjustment is elucidated. The thesis has proposed the guide adjustment process model under the premise of simplifying assumptions and established the mathematical correlations of adjustment amount-adjustment torque.Meanwhile, the adjustment parameters involved in the adjustment process are obtained through the model.Three important contents are adjustment points, adjustment amount and adjustment torque. Each adjustment parameter has a corresponding solution,e.g."isolation subsection adjustment" ideas and the application of the least squares midline, which highlight the importance of adjusting torque calculation to guide future research. Then, for the difficult problem of adjustment torque this paper uses the elastic-plastic theory, finite element method and least squares simplification method to analyze and calculate the relationship between the adjustment amount and the adjustment torque.Through the comparative analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of the three methods. The one with a smallest error is used,i.e.the least squares simplification method. This method is used as the calculation means for adjusting torque and utilised for experimental research. Finally,an experimental study was conducted on the linear guides assembling. It involves the determination of a measurement plan, the design of an experimental bench, and the realization of an experimental plan.Among them,MATLAB programming is introduced to simplify the calculation.Data based integration on the Labview was carried out.The results could reduce the straightness error of the guide from 88.2 to 10 by 89%,which proved that the mounting adjustment method can achieve the assembling of the liner guide quickly and attain the research goal. The experiment has made breakthroughs in overcoming the limitations of the experimental aspects and verified the reliability of the fitting method and the accuracy of the theoretical calculation. In the meanwhile,it has also summarized the source of experimental error and the methods of reducing these errors. The results obtained from this study can be considered as a reference for the further studies.
