Ceramic/metal composites not only have good plasticity and toughness of metal materials,but also have characters,such as high hardness,high temperature,good wear resistance of ceramic.Therefore,ceramic/metal composites have become to be a hot topics in recent years.On the one hand,casting mosaic method,one of the preparation methods of many ceramic/metal composites,is simple,cost-controllable.on the other hand,it is suitable for harsh working condition,for example high temperature,wet materials,corrosion,et al.Casting mosaic method is the direction of wear-resistant materials development in the future.Solving the problem of interface fusion is the key to the preparation of ceramic metal composites.Therefore,the surface metallization of ceramic is necessary.The surface of the ceramic reinforcement was coated with titanium by chemical vapor deposition.Al2O3multiphase ceramic/iron matrix composites is prepared by casting mosaic.The effects of Ti coating on the formation of composites,and coatings,two ceramic reinforcements and two metal matrix on the low-stress abrasive wear and impact abrasive wear resistance of composite materials were studied.Research results show that:1.The interface bonding of composite is obviously improved,due to the presence of Ti coating on the surface of the ceramic reinforcement.Interface bonding are metallurgical for high chromium cast iron and cast steel.2.The results of low-stress abrasive wear show that:the wear resistance of composites is better than high chromium cast iron in the same test conditions.The wear resistance of high chromium cast iron reinforced by Al2O3 ceramic is higher than high chromium cast iron?about25%?.The wear resistance of high chromium cast iron reinforced by ZTA ceramic is higher than high chromium cast iron?about 55%?.For the composites with the same kind of ceramic,the wear resistance of the composite with the composite ceramic being modified with coating is better than that being not modified with coating?about 10%?.3.The results of impact abrasive wear show that:the impact wear properties of composites is better than metals.The impact abrasive wear properties of composites prepared by ZTA ceramic is better than composites prepared by Al2O3 ceramic while the metal matrix is the same and the ceramic reinforcement is different.The impact abrasive wear properties of composites prepared by high chromium cast iron as matrix is better than composites prepared by cast steel as matrix while the ceramic reinforcements is the same and the metal matrix is different.
