As the speed of the product update in the automotive industry continues to increase, the flexibility of white-body manufacturing is increasingly demanded, and the flexible technology will also develop with the development of modern science and technology. And the traditional welding fixture production process can not meet the requirements of the current rapid production of automobiles and the completion of new products to market in the shortest possible production cycle. As the virtual manufacturing technology becomes more and more mature, the flexibility of fixtures has evolved from the simplification and single of the past to the direction of technology, complexity, and intelligence, which has brought enormous economic benefits to the automotive industry. This paper mainly focuses on the design and research of multi-vehicle flexible fixtures for the lateral outer panel assembly area of the heavy truck cockpit. After analyzing the structural features and production processes of the lateral outer panel assembly of the automobile, the three-dimensional structure design of the welding fixture is carried out in combination with the positioning reference theory. And the XHR SC,LR SC and LR DC can be achieved by adjusting some components. Then the trajectory simulation was performed on the cylinder open state of the whole welding fixture, and the interference phenomenon was found out and solved by the modification and optimization of the welding fixture parts. Finally, analyze the welding fixture parts which are too long or support excessive force to verify whether it meets the strength requirements and usability.
