Nomex honeycomb composites material(hereinafter to be referred as honeycomb)has excellent performance of low density,powerful longitudinal rigidity,flame resistance.The honeycomb material is different from metallic material,because of hexagonal honeycomb structure of cell-wall weaken honeycomb material rigidity in L direction and W direction,leading honeycomb material deformation and producing rough selvedge in processing which influences machining accuracy and surface quality.At the present stage,the main mechanical processing method is high speed milling,but there are some problems which contains high cutting force and large processing deformation in high speed milling:Ultrasonic assisted cutting is a kind of new processing method.The way to process material is that ultrasonic vibration about 20 k Hz applied on the cutting tool during processing.Ultrasonic power can cut honeycomb material into two part instantaneously,reduce the deformation and overcome the disadvantage of high speed milling method.Ultrasonic a ssisted cutting method has the specialty of low cutting force and non-cutting-dust.Better processing morphology and quality can be achieved by ultrasonic assisted cutting method.One of the indicators to evaluate processing technic is processing quality.The key of evaluating processing quality is to put forward eigenvalue which can analysis the typical morphology with the quantitative point view,providing guidance for improving processing quality.Only a few companies in China carry out research on ultra sonic assisted cutting technology,lacking practical and feasible assessment for honeycomb material processing.There is few research article in honeycomb processing morphology by ultrasonic assisted cutting method at present stage.In this article,ultra sonic assisted cutting experiment table is sited up,a series of processing experiments are developed,aimed at:1.Launching cutting experiments on ultrasonic assisted cutting experiment table,summarizing different kinds of cutting surface appearances in various kinds of cutting conditions.2.Analyzing processed surface characteristic,distinguishing the typical characteristic which is harmful to production.Raising characterized index of bad characteristic and studying the relation of processing quality and processing parameters.3.Modifying the ultrasonic assisted cutting mode to improve processing quality.In this article,the processed surface topography of honeycomb is observed,based on ultrasonic cutting experiment.According to the location of processed surface features which is analyzed and concluded in honeycomb wall.In the aspect of processed quality,the characterization parameter is presented,aiming at analyzing the relation of processing parameters and processing quality from a quantitative point of view.On the basis of research above,the conquassation and the reason why conquassation generated is researched,and a new type of cutting method,deflected cutting method is presented.According to theoretical analysis,cutting force test experiment and cutting morphology observation,all evidence shows that positive clearance angle cutting method can restrain the conquassation which has good effects on improving processing quality.
