With the rapid development of our economy, environmental pollution has become increasingly prominent, and environmental problems have become one of the global problems. The relationship between environment and people's production and life is more and more close. In rural areas, farmers pay more and more attention to environmental pollution control. The role and status of farmers' participation in local government's environmental pollution control is becoming more and more important. At present, although the local government has realized the importance of farmers' participation in rural environmental governance,it has not come out of the traditional pollution control model, and has not fully inspired the farmers' willingness to participate in environmental governance. In recent years, around the theme of farmers' willingness to participate in environmental governance, scholars have paid more attention to the influencing factors of farmers' willingness to participate in rural environmental governance. On the one hand, studies have paid attention to the economic, social and institutional environmental factors of farmers' willingness to participate in rural environmental governance. On the other hand, studies have focused on the impact of individual characteristics of farmers on farmers' willingness to participate in rural environmental governance from the perspective of villagers themselves.Social cognitive theory emphasizes that cognitive factors play a positive role in promoting the change of individual behavior, and holds that individual, behavior and environment interact with each other.According to the theory of planned behavior, behavioral intention is influenced by perceived behavior.Farmers' willingness to participate in rural environmental governance is influenced by both social structure and individual psychology. As one of the characteristics of social structure, institutional trust,as a perceptual component of individual psychology, may affect the willingness of rural environmental governance. It is rare to take the social network and institutional trust of farmers into the analytical framework as the key factors to improve farmers' willingness to participate in rural environmental governance. Therefore, the study of the influence of social network and institutional trust on farmers' willingness to participate in rural environmental governance will help us understand the mechanism of these two factors on farmers' willingness to participate in rural environmental governance, and help us to understand the important issue of farmers' willingness to participate in rural environmental governance more thoroughly.Agricultural wastes,as a kind of resource with reuse value, have great economic, social and environmental benefits. It is an important content of rural environmental management. In this study, taking agricultural waste recycling as an example, focusing on the basic research problem of "how rural farmers' social network and institutional trust affect their willingness to participate in environmental governance",and based on reviewing and sorting out the relevant literature, the author constructs a social network, institutional trust and farmers' intention to participate in agricultural waste recycling. The conceptual model of Willingness was used and 1265 valid data were obtained through questionnaire survey.Factor analysis and multiple linear regression analysis were used to verify the hypothesis. The purpose of this study is to answer the following questions:(1)Are farmers' social networks and institutional trust two important factors that affect their willingness to participate in rural environmental governance?(2)how will farmers' social network and institutional trust affect farmers' willingness to participate in rural environmental governance?(3)What is the relationship and mechanism between social network, institutional trust and farmers' willingness to participate in rural environmental governance? The results show that:(1)Farmers' institutional trust has a significant positive impact on their willingness to participate in agricultural waste recycling, indicating that the stronger the farmers' institutional trust, the stronger their willingness to participate in agricultural waste recycling.(2)Farmers with high density, large scale, high centrality, strong relationship and high heterogeneity have a stronger desire to recycle agricultural waste.(3)Institutional trust plays an intermediary role in the relationship between social network characteristics and farmers' willingness to participate in agricultural waste recycling. These conclusions are still true after excluding old people's samples. It is concluded that farmers' social network, institutional trust and farmers' willingness to participate in rural environmental governance are closely related.Farmers' individual social network can not only directly affect their willingness to participate in rural environmental governance, but also directly affect their willingness to participate in rural environmental governance through institutional trust. The study suggests that farmers' willingness to participate in rural environmental governance should be enhanced by expanding their social network and enhancing their institutional trust. The main theoretical contributions of this study are as follows:(1)From the perspective of social cognition, this paper opens the black box of how farmers' social network affects their willingness to participate in rural environmental governance, and finds that institutional trust plays a significant intermediary role in the influence of social network on farmers' willingness to participate in rural environmental governance, which is the social network theory and agriculture.People's willingness to participate in rural environmental governance is further enriched and refined.(2)Combining the individual characteristics of peasants, that is,the peasants' trust in the system and the micro-environmental characteristics, that is,the peasants' social network,to study the differences of the individual peasants with different institutional trust and their social network characteristics on their willingness to participate in rural environmental governance, and to expand and perfect the existing theories.
