Bacterial cellulose is a new kind of biosynthetic fiber, which has a similar structure to other celluloses. It is a macromolecular polysaccharide composed of an anhydroglucose based basic structural unit. And it has a special three-dimensional network structure and high purity, high crystallinity, high modulus and other excellent characteristics.Bacterial cellulose has been widely used in bio-pharmaceuticals,paper industry, food industry and other composite materials industries. In this paper, bacterial cellulose was used as an auxiliary reinforcing fiber in the modification of nylon 6 using the characteristics of high strength and low density of bacterial cellulose, laying a certain theoretical foundation for the application of bacterial cellulose in polymer modification. This paper first explored the effect of direct addition of bacterial cellulose on the mechanical properties of nylon 6 and found that bacterial cellulose has similar modification rules with glass fibers in the modification of nylon 6,with a certain degree promotion of mechanical properties of nylon 6.When the BC content reaches 0.5%,the tensile strength and flexural strength of BC/PA6 composites respectively reach 62.11 MPa and 88.18MPa,which is 11.33%and 9.91%higher than pure PA6.The paper further modified the bacterial cellulose and glass fiber to modify the nylon 6 composites, using the characteristics of high strength and low-density of bacterial cellulose to achieve the effect of reducing the weight and increasing the strength in nylon 6.It was found that different additions of the two fibers have a great influence on the properties of nylon 6 composites. It was determined that direct extrusion granulation after mixing the slurry of BC with GF and PA6 was the best processing method. When GF content is 10%and BC content is 0.4%,the tensile strength of GF/BC/PA6 composites can reach 81.03MPa,which is 13.29%higher than that of GF/PA6 without BC,this value is comparable to the tensile strength of a GF/PA6 material with GF content of 20%.The addition of BC increased the crystallinity of PA6 composites, and promoted the transformation of the material from a to y.The addition of BC has little effect on the thermal stability of PA6 materials. This paper also analyzed non-isothermal crystallization kinetics on the different addition ratios of bacterial cellulose and glass fiber, and found that Mo's method is more suitable for simulating the non-isothermal crystallization process of BC/GF/PA6 composites.
