The dielectric structure initiator is a kind of the Nonlinearelectro-explosive devices,which plays a key role among initiators and pyrotechnics.Al/CuO multilayers films not only has high reaction heat and fast energy release rate,but also possesses special interfacial structure and semiconductor properties.Based on the above characteristics,the dielectric structure initiator prepared by Al/CuO multilayers films was designed and fabricated.The paper studied the electric-explosion performance of the initiator.The main research contents are as follows:(1)The Al/CuO multilayer films were prepared by magnetron sputtering technology.The as-deposited Al/CuO multilayer films were characterized by varied analytical techniques,including XRD,SEM,AFM,DSC.Results show that the films are smooth,and posess excellent layered structure.There are two exothermic peaks and one endothermic peak on the DSC curves of Al/CuO multilayer films.The endothermic peak of Al melting is obvious.(2)The I-V properties of Al/CuO multilayer films were measured by gradually increasing voltage.The breakdown voltage of the Schottky junction in the interface is 8V and the breakdown field strength is 1.0×106 V.cm-1.Then the multilayer films become the dielectric films with high resistance.There is no breakdown in the dielectric films under 50V.The maximum leakage current of the films is 4.7?A,which prove the films have excellent insulating performance.The critical breakdown voltage of Al/CuO multilayer films was measured by pulse-voltage-step method.Because of the single hole breakdown occuring in the weakness of the films,the breakdown voltage of the films is 70V and the breakdown f1eld strength is 7.3×106 V.cm-1.(3)The initiator was fabricated by magnetron sputtering and reverse stripping process.The capacitor of 100?F/250V was used in open-air electric-explosion tests of the initiator.Results are as follow:1)the electric-explosion process consists of the breackdown of initiator and the heating of the plasma.The temperature of the plasma reaches 3500?.2)initiator's critical energy,total time of capacitance and duration of the plasma tend to be stable,which is less influenced by the voltage of the capacitor.3)initiator's critical time,complete breakdown time,complete breakdown energy and input efficiency are negatively correlated with the voltage of the capacitor.4)the total energy of the capacitive,the electric-detonation area of the bridge,the intensity of the plasma are positively correlated with the voltage of the capacitor.(4)The dielectric structure initiators prepared by Al/CuO multilayers films with different modulation periods were experimentally analyzed under the condition of capacitive discharge.The results show that the electric-explosion performance are influenced by the modulation period and the thickness of the multilayer films.When the modulation period of the multilayer film is 50nm/100nm and the thickness is 1.5 ?m,the reaction product are spattered in the process of electric-explosion.The ignition ability of the initiator is improved by the reaction product spattered.
