With the development of automobile lightweight worldwide in recent years,the study of automobile materials is also closely followed the pace of weight reduction.Although the lightweight effect of traditional fiber reinforced composites is outstanding,but their expensive material cost and the relatively inefficient molding efficiency greatly limit the application of composite material in the automobile weight reduction.Thus,this paper has designed new types of Al/SRPP and Al/UHMWPE fiber metal laminates based on the stamping process,which is one of the traditional four manufacturing processes of automobile manufacture,and studied the stamping formability of these two kinds of laminates.The uniaxial tensile tests of 0°,45° and 90° along the fiber direction of aluminum alloy were investigated in the paper firstly.It was found that the anisotropy of the composite layers cause the severe surface anisotropy of the Al/SRPP and Al/UHMWPE fiber metal laminates.The in-plane anisotropy results in different degrees of earing in Al/SRPP and Al/UHMWPE fiber metal laminates after drawing.In addition,the paper established the constitutive equations of AL/SRPP and Al/UHMWPE fiber metal laminates respectively by using Hollomon equation.The tensile test shows that the limit drawing ratio of Al/SRPP and Al/UHMWPE laminates is 2.2 and 2.4 separately,which achieves the deep drawing performance of medium strength aluminum alloy sheets.After the internal ultrasonic testing of the cupshaped specimen,it was discovered that all the specimen have good adhesion,and no obvious holes,debonding or fracture occurred.Besides,it was found that the limit rate of the hole expansion the Al/SRPP and Al/UHMWPE laminates is 42.5% and 60.7%,respectively.Compared with Al/UHMWPE laminates has a relatively better hole expansion performance.The forming limit test shows that the existence of the composite layers will affect the forming limit of the aluminum alloy layer in the fiber metal laminates.The FLD scatter chart based on the failure criterion of composite layers rupture shows that the forming limit value of the Al/SRPP laminates is obviously higher than that of the Al/UHMWPE laminates.At last,the paper builds the hypothesis of establishing the FLD calculation model of the fiber metal laminates,and fit the FLD formulas of the the Al/SRPP and Al/UHMWPE fiber metal laminates based on the hypothesis.
