The Application And Research Of Interactive Elements In The Outdoor Public Seating Design

As the rapid development of urbanization construction,the scale of population steadily increases.Although the city is growing fast,it still cannot meet all the people's needs.Nowadays,without quality public facilities,life of citizens would get more enclosed and less related while sufficient,well-planned and designed public facilities can prolong the time citizens spend in the public environment as well as improve their living standard.Outdoor public life used to be a very important part of the city life.However,nowadays,with the development of the society,people can do many things by various high-tech facilities in personal space,such as talking with friends,getting the latest information,watching movies,downloading the popular songs,even working at home.How to attract people to go to outdoor public spaces instead of staying indoors is a big problem for planners in modern society.In this study,the focus is on the public seating design.First,I will demonstrate the definition and importance of outdoor public spaces of the city.In the past,without telephone and internet,public space was referred to be a very important way of creating opportunities for communication between strangers.In the modern society,there are still many important functions of the outdoor public spaces.Then,as a crucial part of the city outdoor furniture,the outdoor public seating has a close relationship with citizens.Apart from providing citizens with a place to rest and enjoy the view,the outdoor public seating also offer the citizens an area to communicate.At last,combine with the element of interaction which plays an important role in the design of public seating to explore a new concept of outdoor rest.The range of the interaction design can take part between people and people,people and object,people and environment,even the object and object.This study aims to analyze the element of interaction and the public seating design from the perspective of “human”.According to the theory of interaction design,I will start from the aspect of the material,the structure,the sculpt and the color,and do intensive study on the users sense,behavior,emotion and thinking experience.At the same time,I will conduct a large number of cases study,in order to explore a method that integrate the element of interaction into the public seating design.In the end,the study will conclude the method which the element of interaction can be used in the public seating design,and put it into practice.Use the city public seating design as the practice case,it will involve the material,the color and the ergonomics,and provide a direction for interaction design in outdoor public seating.
