Baffle gas-liquid separator,also called mist eliminator,is a kind of gas-liquid separation device commonly used in industrial production,which consists of a series of folded or curved blades arranged side by side.As the airflow containing small droplets turns the flow rapidly at the inflexion inside the baffle gas-liquid separator,or turns back quickly after hitting the baffles,the airflow is relatively easy to continue to flow downstream due to the different inertias of gas and liquid.While small droplets will hit the baffle and converge into liquid film and be drained away from the separator under the action of gravity,so as to achieve the purpose of gas-liquid separation.In industrial practice,baffle gas-liquid separator is widely used due to its advantages including simple structure,easy processing,good working stability and extensive adaptability for high gas velocity and high liquid content.The experimental results are relatively identical to the situation in the practical application,showing that it is very important to improve the separation performance by designing and optimizing the structure of the baffle.In this thesis,according to the different shape of the baffles as well as the different shape and quantity of the drains,five kinds of baffle gas-liquid separators commonly used in the industry are selected.First,the influence of the baffle structure on the separation performance was studied and comparative analysis on the influence of the parameters of each structure on the separation performance was conducted.Then,a new type of baffle gas-liquid separator with ditches on the drain was designed and relative exploring experiments were carried out.Finally,the difference of separation performance between two kinds of baffle gas-liquid separators made of different materials was studied by experiment.The experimental results show that the structure of the baffle directly affects the separation performance of the separator,and that the drain ditches on the baffle can significantly improve the separation efficiency,but also increase the separation pressure drop at the same time.Meanwhile the separation performance is optimal when the height of the drain ditches account for about one-third of the width of baffle channel.Also,the drain ditches can reduce the pressure drop of separator at the cost of lower separation efficiency.Moreover,the separation performance of separators made of different materials has some difference with 10% according to filtration efficiency,which has close correlation with liquid films formed on the surface of the baffle made of different materials.
