Acrylic latex has a lot of good performances such as good mechanical property,film-forming property,transparency,aging resistance,light resistance,weather resistance,corrosion resistance,environmental friendliness and low cost.It is widely used in coatings,adhesive,textile,papermaking,leather and so on.However,it still has some drawbacks such as poor stain resistance and water resistance,getting brittleness at low temperature,losing viscidity at high temperature.Presently,the modification of acrylate latex from its constitution and production technology has been researched.The emphasis was put on improving the performance of acrylate latex,expanding its range of application and making it more environmentally friendly.In addition,the way of modifying acrylate latex still has a lot to be explored.In this paper,the acrylate latex was modified from its constitution,the specific preparation methods are as follows.Environmentally friendly alkyl polyglucosides(APG1214)was used as the emulsifier to replace alkyl phenol polyoxyrthylene ether(OP-10).The fluorinated acrylic latex was prepared via semi-continuous seeded emulsion polymerization of butyl acrylate(BA),methyl methacrylate(MMA)and hexafluorobutyl methacrylate(HFMA)in water phase initiated with potassium persulfate(KPS)and emulsified with the aid of mixed surfactants of sodium dodecyl sulfonate(SDS)and APG1214.The preparing recipe and technological conditions were optimized.And the resultant latex was characterized.And effects of the amount of APG1214 and HFMA on the properties of latex were mainly discussed.The environmentally friendly APG1214 was used as the nonionic emulsifier to replace OP-10 and the environmentally friendly alpha olefin sulfonate(AOS)was used as anion emulsifier to replace SDS.The acrylic latex was prepared via semi-continuous seeded emulsion polymerization of BA and MMA in water phase initiated with KPS and emulsified with the aid of mixed surfactants of AOS and APG1214.The preparing recipe and technological conditions were optimized.The resultant latex was characterized.And the effect of emulsifier on the properties of the latex was discussed in detail.The fluorinated acrylic latex was prepared via semi-continuous seeded emulsion polymerization of BA,isobornyl methacrylate(IBOMA),dodecafluoroheptyl methacrylate(G04)and hydroxypropyl methacrylate(HPMA)in water phase initiated with KPS and emulsified with the aid of mixed surfactants of SDS and OP-10.The resultant latex was characterized and the performance was tested.The preparing recipe and technological conditions were also optimized.The fluorinated acrylic latex was prepared via semi-continuous seeded emulsion polymerization of BA,MMA,Methyl acrylate alkoxy phosphate ester(PAM-200)and 3-methyl propyl trimethoxy silane(KH-570)in water phase initiated with KPS and emulsified with the aid of mixed surfactants of SDS and OP-10.The preparing recipe and technological conditions were optimized.The resultant latex was characterized and the performance was tested.The modified acrylate latexes were characterized and properties of the latex and their films were tested.The results show that the properties of modified acrylate latex were improved greatly in comparison with the conventional acrylate latex.Furthermore,the modified acrylate latex was more environmentally friendly.
