A novel hollow fiber hemodialysis membrane was fabricated for medical applications.The polysulfone(PSF)membrane was prepared by nonsolvent induced phase separation(NIPS)method using diethylene glycol(DEG)as the pore former,polyvinyl pyrrolidone(PVP-K30)as the modification agent and dimethylacetamide(DMAC)as the solvent.The effects of the casting solution system,spinning condition,modifier content and PSF brand on the morphology,permeation performance,hydrophilicity and mechanical strength of the prepared PSF membranes were characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),ultrafiltration,contact angle,porosity,dialysis test and tensile test,respectively.Firstly,the effects of PSF content,additive content,the ratio of solvent to nonsolvent and the air-gap distance on the performance of the prepared PSF membranes were investigated.The experimental results showed that the optimal composition of the casting solution was as follows:21wt%PSF,10wt%PVP and the ratio of solvent to nonsolvent was 5:1.The optimal air-gap distance was 0mm.The ultrafiltration coefficient,pore size,MWCO and break strength of the membrane reached 186.4 mL/m2·h·mmHg,4.95nm,14300Da and 5.12MPa,respectively.Besides,the clearance of solutes for creatine,phosphate and VB12 was 103.6,102.4 and 92.8mL/min.To improve the hydrophilicity of PSF membrane,cellulose acetate(CA)was used as the hydrophilic additive to blend with PSF for membrane preparation by NIPS.The experimental results showed that when the ratio of PSF to CA was 19 2,membrane had the optimal performance.The ultrafiltration coefficient,contact angle,pore size,MWCO and break strength of the membrane reached 216.7 mL/m2·h·mmHg,65.4°,5.19nm,15400Da and 5.00MPa,respectively.Besides,the clearance of solutes for creatine,phosphate and VB12 was 112.2,110.7 and 100.2mL/min.It was also found that the increase of the speed of simulate flow or dialysate flow was favorable for solute clearance.Finally,based on above research,the effect on the performance of PSF/CA blend membrane prepared by different PSF brand was investigated.And the experimental results showed that the PSF material produced by foreign company had the best performance.
