Along with the high-speed development of economic nowadays,the pollution emission is substantial in increase causing the deterioration of environment.The sustainable development of ecological environment system are facing severe challenges.As one of the leading China's economic development,The East region is the fastest regional economic development in our country,and hence with serious environmental pollution.The article takes relationship between economic development and environmental pollution as key point,then expounds the connotation of the sustainable development of economy and environment,forming mechanism.On this basis,this article uses principal component to calculate a comprehensive index to represent the environment pollution,and analyzes the relation with GDP.Referring to the outcome of previous studies and combining the feature of its economic development,research orientation,capital and human capital,the paper studies the relationship between economic growth and environmental pollution comprehensive index by applying the panel data model with panel data of 6 provinces and one city in The East region from 1992 to 2010.The empirical result discovers that there exists bidirectional interaction between environmental pollution and economic growth.It shows that rapid development of economy may lead environmental pollution,at the same time,it will restain economic growth.While are asymmetric,the former has more effect.There is a long-term equilibrium relationship between economic growth and environmental pollution and there are also differences in different areas due to the various regional economic development,industrial structure and the corresponding environmental policies.
