Conjugaed Linolenic acid(CLNA)is a generic term for octadecatrienoic acids. The main source of CLNA is plant seed oils.It is also from chemical synthesis and biological preparation.Catalpa oil,a kind of functional oil derived from catalpa seed, mainly contains the conjugated linolenic acid with 9(E),11(E)and 13(Z)conjugated double bonds.Studies have shown that conjugated linolenic acid, such as alpha-ketoic acid, pomegranate acid, can fight cancer, reduce blood fat, improve immunity, and cause weight loss. However, the effect of catalpa acid on metabolic function and fat deposition is unclear. Therefore, the effects of catalpa oil on glucose, lipid metabolism and adipose tissue in mice were analyzed. In the present study, mice were used as animal models. The mice were divided into two groups: the pressed soybean oil group(control group),and the catalpa oil and pressed soybean oil mixed group(experimental group).During 3 weeks to 11 weeks of the age,it was found that catalpa oil intake significantly reduced the body weight gain of the mice.Subsequently, the glucose in mice was measured, and the blood glucose increased in the experimental group was significantly lower than that in the control group. The serum levels of HDL were significantly higher than those in the control group, but the content of TG decreased significantly. There was no significant change in TC and LDL content. The white adipose tissue of the mice was stained by the hematoxylin-eosin staining, and the white adipose cells in the experimental group were smaller than that of the control group.Immunohistochemistry was used to analyze the expression level of UCP1 protein in white adipose tissue. The results showed that catalpa oil intake increased the expression level of UCP1 protein.Subsequently, the expression of UCP1 in white adipose tissue of mice was detected by qPCR and western blotting. It was found that the catalpa oil could up-regulate UCP1 protein expression in white adipose tissue of mice. The expression of cytochrome C protein in white adipose tissue of mice was not significantly changed. The expression of PPAR-? and PPAR-? protein in white adipose tissue of mice was detected by western blotting. It was found that the catalpa oil could increase the expression of PPAR-? protein in mouseadipose tissue, and PPAR-? protein expression had no change. In conclusion, catalpa oil can obviously reduce body weight in mice, improve the glucose tolerance in mice and the content of serum HDL,and decrease the content of TG in mice. The catalpa oil can adjust glucose and lipid metabolism in a high-fat diet mice model. At the same time, the catalpa oil can increase the expression of UCP1 and PPAR-? protein levels. It is suggested that catalpa oil may affect the process of white adipose beiging by regulating the PPAR-? signaling pathway.
