Bisphenol A is environmental estrogen, which has been detected in many rivers of our country. The conventional water treatment process cannot effectively remove bisphenol A in water, which threatens the safety of drinking water and human health. In order to reduce the concentration of bisphenol A in water,a series of carbonaceous adsorbent-polysulfone composite membranes were prepared in this paper, explored the properties of the adsorption/ultrafiltration technology to remove bisphenol A in water..In this paper, activated carbon, carbon nanotubes, mesoporous carbon and graphene, these four kinds of carbonaceous adsorbents were selected to fabricate carbonaceous adsorbents-polysulfone composite membranes. The effects of the type of carbonaceous adsorbent and the amount of carbonaceous adsorbent doping(0-15%)on the structure,physico-chemical properties, adsorption and filtration performance of composite membranes was investigated, the effect of solution environment on the removal of bisphenol A by membrane filtration was studied to simulate the actual engineering conditions. The main conclusions are as follows:(1)When the doping amount of carbonaceous adsorbent is 0.02g/g,the adsorption and filtration performance of composite membranes were better than pure polysulfone membrane. The filtration performance of activated carbon-polysulfone composite membrane is the best, followed by carbon nanotubes.(2)With the increased amount of carbon nanotubes, the adsorption capacity of the composite membrane is gradually increased and the filtration performance is improved. The M-CNT15 membrane maintained a 20% rejection of BPA molecules when the pure polysulfone membrane lost its interception ability.(3)The increased amount of activated carbon influenced the internal structure of the composite membrane. The saturated adsorption of bisphenol A increased from 10.58mg/g(without activated carbon)to 66.04mg/g(doping amount: 0.15g/g).Filtration performance significantly enhanced,The mass of M-AC15 intercepting bisphenol A is 7 times that of pure polysulfone membrane.(4)Under alkaline conditions, bisphenol A ionizated, the capacity of composite ultrafiltration membrane retenting bisphenol A is reduced. The presence of background ions and bisphenol A had competitive adsorption, the removal effect of the composite membrane reduced.
