The glass forming region and the optimal matrix components of the glass system with compositions of 93.9%?x CaO-y Al2O3-z SiO2?-5%MgO-1%B2O3-0.1%Fe2O3 has been been determined.Through doped with TiO2?ZrO2?CeO2 and Li2O as metal oxide modified agent,we studied the effects on the structure and mechniacal properties of the CAS glass.The main studies are as follows:?1?Glass system with compositions of 93.9%?x CaO-y Al2O3-z SiO2?-5%MgO-1%B2O3-0.1%Fe2O3 has been prepared by conventional melt-quenching technique.The approximate glass forming region was found to be x=1035%,y=1035%,z=5080%,and the rest of the area was crystallization zone or crack zone.As x=10%,y=25%and z=65%,the investigated glass possesses the optimum volume density,bending strength,compression strength and modulus,which are 2.572 g/cm3,74.05 MPa,312.84 MPa and163.96 GPa,respectively.The optical band gap value and Raman spectroscopy of the sample 13 all prove that the number of oxygen bonds in the bridge reach the maximum.Moreover,with the increase or decrease in the content of Al2O3and CaO,the glass network structure becomes weaking and the mechanical properties are decrease.?2?Based on the optimum composition,doped with TiO2,ZrO2,CeO2 is designed to improve the glass properties.When the content of TiO2 is 4mol%,the content of ZrO2is 4 mol%and the content of CeO2 is 5mol%,the glass shows excellent mechanical properties.With increase in the metallic oxide,the mechanical properties increase.However,when the metallic oxide is excessive,the network structure is destroyed and thereby the glass sample shows bad mechanical properties.?3?In order to solve the high melt temperature of the CAS system glass,effect of Li2O on the thermal properties has been studied.And found that Li2O as strong fluxing agent can decrease the glass transition temperature markedly without affecting the mechanical properties of glass.When the content of Li2O is less than 2 mol%,the thermal stability and the mechanical are improved with increase in Li2O.Although the transition temperature also is decreased,the thermal stability and bending strength would decrease with increase in the content of Li2O.The optimum conthen of Li2O is 2 mol%,and the density,transition temperature,optical band gap value and bending strength is2.542g/cm2,795.37?,3.43 eV,80.11MPa.?4?In order to study the application of glass fiber,we prepared glass fiber reinforced plastics in different environment based on the glass fiber.The results show that the glass fiber doped with 4 mol%TiO2 can significantly enhance the properties of the glass fiber reinforced plastics.In addition,the reinforced plastics possess more better properties solidifying at 130?and its hardness will be improved when the content of glass fiber is 20wt%.
