As the direct band gap material,CdTe has a high absorption coefficient with bandgap width of 1.46 eV,which is exactly within the energy gap range of an ideal solar cell.Only 1?m can absorb more than 90%of visible light,and its theoretical efficiency is as high as 28%.In this paper,preparation of CdTe thin films by the magnetron sputtering method is studied.Firstly,the CdTe thin film was prepared by magnetron sputtering,and the effects of substrate temperature,sputtering time,sputtering power,and argon gas pressure on the structural characteristics,optical properties and surface morphology of the thin film were analyzed.Then the best experimental parameters obtained by the magnetron sputtering were applied to the preparation of the battery.The specific conclusions are as follows:1.After the CdTe thin film prepared by the magnetron sputtering method was tested and analyzed,it was concluded that the CdTe thin film shows good crystallinity,good absorption performance in the visible light range,and large grain size,when the substrate temperature is300?,the sputtering power is 100 W,and the argon gas pressure is 1.4 Pa.At this point,the performance of CdTe film is in a better state;2.The optimum experimental parameters of the CdTe thin films were applied to the preparation of the battery.The cadmium telluride batteries with Au and Cu/Au as back electrodes were prepared.After continuous improvement and optimization of the film thickness,heat treatment process,crystal quality and back-electrode treatment process,the CdTe battery with a photoelectric conversion efficiency of 4.18%was finally prepared.The parameters of the battery were:the open circuit voltage is 561 mV,the density of short-circuit current was 14.98 mA/cm~2and the fill factor is 49.7%.In this experiment,the experimental parameters of CdTe thin film prepared by magnetron sputtering were optimized and CdTe battery with certain efficiency was prepared.In the future,the high efficiency cadmium telluride battery by magnetron sputtering can be prepared.
