Research On Chinese Traditional Banding & Edging Techniques And Application In Modern Fashion Design

Traditional banding and edging technology is a common decorative technology in Chinese traditional clothing,which has protective effect on the edge of clothing and distinct aesthetic decoration characteristics.The technology of banding and edging decoration is applied to the neckline,cuffs,door-front,hem and slit of clothing,etc.By analyzing the characteristics of banding and edging modeling structure applied in different parts,the production techniques of " banding" and " edging" are classified respectively.The characteristics of its shape,pattern and color in traditional costumes are sorted out,which lays a foundation for the innovative application of traditional banding and edging technology,and also for better inheritance of traditional costume technology.This paper takes the traditional banding and edging technology as the research object,and the classification of banding and edging techniques and the effect of banding and edging techniques on clothing are discussed and analyzed by means of documentation and physical textual research.First of all,from the appearance analysis,the characteristics of different application parts and application methods of banding and edging technology in clothing are described intuitively.Secondly,the traditional costume banding and edging techniques in museum collections and existing books are summarized and sorted out by using pattern classification,color matching and material selection;In addition,it briefly analyzes the application characteristics of banding and edging decoration in the three ethnic costumes of naxi,Mongolian and zhuang,and takes the three ethnic costumes as examples to enrich the innovative thinking in the application of inlay and roll elements.The inheritance and innovation of Chinese traditional banding and edging technology is the key.In the practical stage,the author classifies and applies the making methods of banding and edging techniques,and draws clear steps of making methods.Different effects and different production methods presented by traditional banding and edging technology in clothing are classified and produced,such as single-layer,double-layer and multi-layer technology.In modern innovative design applications,combined with fashion trend analysis,site popular with modern fashion as an example,and will feature a collection of modern clothing decoration process and different parts and different materials,different modelling of technique innovation,try combining traditional set banding and edging element and modern dress,make traditional process with modern innovative ways,both to adapt to the modern market environment,and hold Chinese national culture emotion of goods.Let us pay more attention to the traditional culture,find the Chinese traditional clothing culture and modern clothing culture bridge.
