The social economy is constantly developing,and it has also caused many environmental problems.Land degradation has become one of the many environmental problems currently affecting the world's ecology.Shanxi Province is one of the more serious land degradation phenomena in China.This paper analyzes the phenomena and trends of land degradation in Shanxi Province,with a view to providing reference for the protection of land resources,prevention and control of land degradation and ecological construction in Shanxi Province.This study used MODIS NDVI data and meteorological data to carry out land degradation trend assessment through spatial trend analysis.The article attempts to use the two indicators of vegetation cover and vegetation rain use efficiency,based on different administrative units and pixel-based partition statistics to remotely monitor land degradation in Shanxi for nearly 15 years.The research results are as follows:(1)On the whole,the vegetation coverage in the southeastern part of Shanxi Province is relatively high,and the vegetation coverage in the north is relatively low in the arid regions and in the western Yellow River.During the period of 2001-2015,vegetation coverage in 86.43% of Shanxi Province showed an increasing trend,and 3.08% of the regional vegetation showed a degraded trend,and sporadic distribution in various areas of the study area.(2)Based on the administrative unit and the pixel-based partition statistics,the changes of vegetation cover are analyzed.The results show that the division based on the administrative unit weakens the change trend of vegetation degradation,and based on the pixel partition statistics,it is more clear to locate the area where vegetation degradation occurs.(3)Overall,the vegetation rain use efficiency in the southeastern part of Shanxi province is relatively high,and the RUE value is lower in the arid regions of the north and the coastal areas of the western Yellow River,which is basically consistent with the distribution of vegetation cover.In the past 15 years,more than half of the RUE values in Shanxi Province have remained basically unchanged,while the area of improved vegetation productivity accounts for 48.16% of the total area of the study area.Only a few areas have degraded,accounting for only 1.17 of the total area of the study area.(4)Based on the RUE index to monitor the trend of land degradation in Shanxi province,the multi-year average RUE can reflect the long-term vegetation productivity of Shanxi ecosystem to a certain extent,but the results of spatial transfer analysis based on pixel scale on the pixel scale are unreasonable.It is not consistent with the actual situation,so RUE indicators need to be further studied and discussed.(5)Taking the Chakou small watershed as the verification area,based on the spatial transfer analysis of vegetation cover types by pixels,the results show that during the study period,the vegetation coverage is increasing continuously,the change of the area and land use type is changed and the field research is carried out.The results are consistent,indicating that the method based on this method has a certain reliability for monitoring land degradation in Shanxi province.
