As a promising clean and efficient new energy,hydrogen is a major breakthrough to solve the energy crisis and an important research direction for the sustainable development of energy.Among many technologies for hydrogen production by electrolysis of water,solid polymer(SPE)electrolytic cell is the focus of this paper due to its advantages of high energy efficiency,compact and portable device,convenient and accessible electrolyte and high system safety factor.Aiming at the small-scale hydrogen production equipment on board,the design and manufacture of cell and microchannel membrane solid polymer electrolytic cells were analyzed and studied.Three kinds of hydrogen production systems by electrolysis of water were analyzed,and the theory of hydrogen production by electrolysis of water was analyzed.The working principle of solid polymer(PEM)electrolytic cell is emphatically analyzed,and the influencing factors of hydrogen production by electrolysis of water are analyzed.The preparation method of membrane electrode is described in detail.Two types of solid polymer electrolytic cells,cell type and microchannel membrane type,were designed and built.In the experiment,a membrane electrode was made with an electrolysis area of 7cm×7cm,a proton exchange membrane of nafion117 as a catalyst carrier,hydrophobic carbon paper as a diffusion layer between the cathode and anode,a noble metal platinum black of 0.3mg/cm2 as a cathode catalyst,and iridium oxide and platinum black of 2.5mg/cm2 as a mixed anode catalyst.The ion exchange capacity,water absorption rate and swelling rate of the proton exchange membrane were analyzed,and the performance of the membrane electrode was analyzed.The effects of various working conditions of different electrolysis voltages,electrolysis temperatures and electrolyte types on hydrogen production by electrolysis water were experimentally studied.The experiment shows that the SPE electrolyzed water hydrogen production system has a long activation growth period during operation,and the hydrogen production capacity remains stable after 6 hours.The hydrogen production of the system increases with the increase of voltage and temperature,and the influence of voltage is greater than that of temperature.The hydrogen production capacity of the system varies with the change of electrolyte solution.The more conductive ions contained in the electrolyte,the higher the hydrogen production efficiency.However,the proton exchange membrane's performance will be drastically reduced due to long-term contact with metal ions in the electrolyte.
