Study On The Assembly Technology Of Ancient Chinese Jade Dissimilar Materials

Jade has always occupied an important position in traditional Chinese culture.Except the independent jade jewelries,the jade jewelries with various materials are widely admired at home and abroad for their varied shapes,rich colors and unique craftsmanship.In the long course of development,the jade jewelries with various materials have gradually become a kind of cultural form with Chinese characteristics and play an important role in the history of traditional Chinese crafts.This thesis summarizes various materials used in the jade composition and different styles and the aesthetic characteristics of different materials through the research on the craft and culture of jade with varied materials compositions,and finally provides the theoretical basis for modern jewelry designs.Firstly,this thesis focuses on the concept of “Jade with varied materials composition process”,that is,the combination and matching process of jade and other materials.It is divided into five types: jade with metal assembling process,jade with gemstone assembling process,jade with lacquer ware assembling process,jade with wood assembling processes,and jade with other materials assembling process.Through the historical background analysis of the assembling process,the thesis finds that the formation of the assembling process is influenced by many aspects such as economic foundation,religious culture,aesthetic taste,religion,Chinese and foreign cultures and national culture.Secondly,the thesis analyzes the characteristics of the five important stages of the history of jade jewelries with various materials,including Xia Shang Zhou,Spring and Autumn Period,Qin and Han Dynasties,Tang and Song Dynasties,and Ming and Qing Dynasties.The jades with dissimilar materials include the characteristics of metals,gemstones,lacquer ware,bamboo and other materials,as well as the features which are commonly used in jewelry making processes like metal inlaying,treasures embedded,carved lacquer jade and other production processes.Thirdly,the jades with varied materials conducts the function of the gods,the function of the symbols,the function of decorations and the function of maintaining good meanings in different periods,which play important roles in social life.The dissimilar materials are not only the carriers of people's emotions,but also the carriers of the inclusive and versatile national spirit,and affect the craft culture of the world.Finally,this thesis pays attention to the inheritance and development of the jade with various materials composition process.Facing the dilemma that the traditional process is difficult to develop,it is necessary to apply traditional national culture into jewelry designs in its development,at the same time,we need to rationally assimilate the foreign cultures and keep pace with the times.Finally I finished my personal design “Lian Ye Qing Qiao” and “Que Luo Chuang Jiu” based on my researches.
