Urban watercourse is the most important water ecological environment in the city which can be used for providing water resources,regulating climate,preventing or controlling flood,reducing environment pollution.However,in the current process of urbanization,the water departments in cities mechanically artificialize the urban watercourse by realigning rivers with their single and rigid manner just for the purpose of "fast drainage".This severely damaged the ecological functions of watercourse making the ecology system of watercourse fragile and vulnerable and destroying the landscapes along the watercourse.Focusing on the current problems in artificialization of urban watercourse and with integration of relevant theories of ecological remediation,the research summarizes the general methods to ecologically repair the watercourse by landscape approaches based on review of literature documentations regarding watercourse ecological remediation and watercourse landscape planning&design and by referring to successful cases both home and abroad.In addition,it puts this method into practice project.For example,in a case study of urban greenbelt of Suiping Ruhe River in He'nan province,the research improves the specific design method according to the particularity of the land and creates ecological and recreational waterfront greenbelt with unique characters,suitable environment,and perfect functions.
