Traditional grinding wheels have small single-grain cutting depth,high machining accuracy and low material removal rate;cutting tool have large single-edge cutting cutting depth,high material removal rate and low machining accuracy.Based on this,spiral orderly arrangement fibers cutting tool was proposed and the cBN-WC-lOCo fibers were used for the cutting tool instead of the traditional grains.The fibers were arranged in a spiral order along the tool matrix and the arrangement and cutting angle are artificially controllable.The preparation methods and cutting mechanism of the cBN-WC-lOCo fibers were investigated.This research carried out the preparation methods of the spiral orderly arrangement fibers cutting tool and the cutting performances of machining TC4 titanium alloy.The main research content is as follows:(1)The preparation technique of the spiral orderly arrangement fibers cutting tool was carried out.The advantages and disadvantages of the axial dislocation array pattern of the fiber along the tool matrix and the orderly arrangement of the circumferential surface of the fiber were compared and analyzed.The effect of fiber arrangement on the cutting performance,processing stability,processing efficiency,cutting force and plugging was investigated.A multi-head spiral arrangement of fibers along the outer circumference of the tool body was proposed.The method of fixing the fiber on the matrix is discussed.The advantages and disadvantages of the overall hot press forming and distribution forming methods are analyzed.The preparation of the fixed fiber in the tool matrix drilling is proposed and implemented.(2)The spiral orderly arrangement fibers cutting tool was fabricated.The WC powder,Co powder and cBN particles were mixed in proportion and cBN-WC-10Co composite material was prepared by spark plasma sintering technology.The dimensions of 0.8 mm X 0.8 mm X 7 mm,the rake angle of 0° and the clearance angle of 20° were then cut by using electric discharge wire cutting technology.The spiral orderly arrangement fibers cutting tool was fabricated according to the optimized proposal.(3)Conducting comparative experiments on the processing of TC4 titanium alloys by multi-head spiral orderly arrangement fibers cutting tool,common resin binders cBN grinding wheels,and single-head spiral orderly arrangement fibers cutting tool.The experimental results showed that the surface roughness of the machined workpieces of multi-head spiral orderly arrangement fibers cutting tool are comparable to those of conventional grinding wheels,and the cutting force and rebound rate are smaller.Compared with single-head spiral orderly arrangement fibers cutting tool,the multi-head spiral orderly arrangement fibers cutting tool obtained smaller cutting force and the processing quality is significantly improved.The reason is that the multi-head spiral orderly arrangement fibers cutting tool have a denser fiber distribution and a smoother cutting force,which greatly reduces the deterioration of the processing vibration and the deterioration of the surface quality caused by the large fiber spacing of the single-head spiral orderly arrangement fibers cutting tool.Meanwhile,the multi-head spiral orderly arrangement fibers cutting tool has high edge height of the fibers,which reduces the repeated extrusion of the tool matrix to the workpiece material to form a large amount of frictional heat and improves the cutting quality.
