Since the Reform and opening,China’s economy has grown rapidly and has become an important engine for global economic growth, but China is also facing tremendous carbon emission reduction pressures. The Jing-Jin-Ji region is one of the key development areas of the Chinese economy, and it has been facing a serious haze pollution problem in recent years.Because of the positive synergistic correlation between haze pollution and carbon emissions,in order to clarify the causes of environmental pollution in the Jing-Jin-Ji region, this paper takes CO2 emissions as the research object.Based on the world input-output model embedded in China’s multi-region,this paper regards the Jing-Jin-Ji region as a whole, and analyses the CO2 transfer between the Jing-Jin-Ji region and other regions in China and other countries in the world. The main findings of this paper are as follows:(1)The production-based CO2emissions in the Jing-Jin-Ji region increased rapidly from 2002 to 2012,among them, the CO2 emissions caused by the export of intermediate products accounted for a large proportion, and mainly served the southeastern coastal provinces(such as Jiangsu,Zhejiang,Shanghai,Guangdong, etc.)and the surrounding provinces of the Jing-Jin-Ji region(such as Inner Mongolia,Liaoning,Shandong,etc.).Foreign carbon exports from Jing-Jin-Ji region are mainly concentrated in developed economies such as the European Union, the United States and Japan. From the sectoral level,"Electricity,Gas and Water Supply industry"and other high-carbon sectors account for a larger proportion of CO2emissions.(2)The consumption-based CO2 emissions in the Jing-Jin-Ji region also increased rapidly during the study period,in which the import of intermediate products caused a large amount of CO2 emissions. From the domestic perspective, the Jing-Jin-Ji region has consumed a large number of products in surrounding provinces(Shanxi,Shaanxi,Inner Mongolia,Henan,Shandong,Liaoning),resulting in a large amount of CO2 emissions;from the perspective of foreign inflows, the Jing-Jin-Ji region imports of large quantities of goods from Brazil,India,Indonesia,Russia(BRIIT)and the rest of the world(ROW)have led to a large proportion of emissions; From the sectoral level,a large proportion of CO2 emissions in the Jing-Jin-Ji region are caused by consumption of products from downstream sectors such as"construction industry"and"other services".(3)The production-based CO2 emissions in the Jing-Jin-Ji region have always been greater than the consumption-based CO2 emissions, and the Jing-Jin-Ji region is the net export region for CO2 emissions.By analyzing the influencing factors of production-based and consumption-based CO2 emissions in the Jing-Jin-Ji region. It is found that the growth of final demand scale in the Jing-Jin-Ji region and the growth of final demand scale in other regions in China are the main factors driving the growth of production-based CO2emissions of the Jing-Jin-Ji region. The most important factor that restrains the growth of production-based CO2 emission of the Jing-Jin-Ji region is the decrease of carbon emission intensity effect in the production sector of the Jing-Jin-Ji region.Based on the analysis of the conclusions, this paper proposes some feasible suggestions on carbon emission reduction in the Jing-Jin-Ji region.
