BODIPY fluorescent dye is a class of excellent fluorescent dyes with high molar extinction coefficients,good photochemical stability,higher fluorescence quantum yields,and energy-and electron-transfer capabilities.Recently,the dyes has been widely applied on the detection of ions in environmental pollution,molecular fluorescent probe,fluorescent labels in active cell,cellularimaging,photodynamic therapy,laser dyes,electroluminescent film as well as light-harvesters and sensitizersfor solar cells and many other fields.In this paper,the studies are mainly based on BODIPY attaching different mesogenic unit such as triphenylene and cholesterol on its meso-position.Then the aromatic conjugated structures were introduced into two other active sites on Bodipy units to obtain excellent dyes which exhibited good near-infrared fluorescence and columnar liquid crystal behavior.The luminescence properties of these BODIPY fluorescent functional materials and their potential application prospects were studied.The main contents are as follows:In the fisrt chapter,four novel types of triphenylene-Bodipy dyads with or without alkyl groups on Bodipy were designed and synthesized.The results showed that dyes 5b and 5d with the alkyl substitution on the Bodipy unit not only displayed good mesomorphic property but also reserve high fluorescence quantum yield by investigating their liquid crystal and photophysical properties.In the following chapter,two classes of near-infrared triphenylene-Bodipy triad were obtained by extending the aromatic conjugated system on Bodipy unit.The investigation of liquid crystal and photophysical properties suggested that the dyes 11 is a typical hexagonal columnar liquid crystals and displayed the near-infrared emission of 650-800 nm with moderate fluorescent quantum yields.In the third chapter,four types of near-infrared Bodipy dyes with cholesterol unit were designed and synthesized.It is found that four dyes have both liquid crystal behavior and fluorescent properties with maximum fluorescence emission at about 670 nm as well as high fluorescence yield in the solution.
