The anti-UV efficacy components used in sunscreen cosmetics are physical UV filters and chemical UV filters,but some chemical UV filters are harmful to human,plants and the environment.The photocatalytic effect of physical UV filters can cause skin problems,its tiny particle size is also likely to cause skin pores to be clogged,and it contained in aerosol products also pose a safety hazard for human inhalation.Finding safe,renewable UV filters from nature is one of the directions for sunscreen development.In this paper,ferulic acid(rice source),baicalin,karanja oil,and eucommia chlorogenic acid with better comprehensive performance(anti-UV efficacy,solubility,color),were screened from natural product.This article studied the anti-UV efficacy of four plant extracts,and studied the various efficacy of the karanja oil.The main contents are as follows:(1)Scanning the selected substances in the wavelength range of 280-400 nm using an ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer,and comparing them with two common chemical UV filters,ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate(EMHC)and octocrylene(OCR).Finally,ferulic acid,baicalin,karanja oil and eucommia chlorogenic acid with better comprehensive properties were screened out.(2)Ferulic acid,baicalin,karanja oil,and eucommia chlorogenic acid were added to the sunscreen according to a certain concentration gradient,and the SPF(Sun protection factor)and PFA(Protection factor of UVA)values of the sunscreen lotion were measured using SPF 290 AS.The results showed that the SPF and PFA values of sunscreen lotion in vitro were not linearly related to the amount of natural UV filters,but the SPF and PFA values growth rate become bigger with the increase of plant extract mass fraction.(3)Ferulic acid,baicalin,karanja oil,eucommia chlorogenic acid independently combine with physical UV filters zinc oxide,titanium dioxide;the natural UV filters independently combine with chemical UV filters E(3% diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate(DHHB)and 10% OCR),F(5% EMHC and 10% OCR);the natural UV filters combine with iron oxide powder to obtain sunscreen lotion,the SPF and PFA values of the sunscreen lotion are obtained by measuring sunscreen lotion with SPF 290 AS.The results showed that ferulic acid and karanja oil combined with zinc oxide and titanium dioxide have the synergistic effect of SPF and PFA;baicalin and eucommia chlorogenic acid can be compounded with titanium dioxide.There is a color abnormality in the zinc oxide compounding.The combination of four plant extracts and chemical UV filters E and F have the synergistic effect of SPF and PFA.The four plant extracts can partially replace the use of chemical UV filters to achieve high sun protection factor value.(4)The physical and chemical properties of the karanja oil were tested.Color parameters,relative density,viscosity,composition and mass fraction of fatty acids contained in the karanja oil,spreadability,permeability,anti-oxidation;anti-UV property,physical and chemical properties of skin care product containing karanja oil were tested by SPF 290 AS,the skin lotion standard.The results showed that compared with the two chemical UV filters,EMHC and polysiloxane-15,the karanja oil has high spreadability and low permeability;with the concentration of karanja oil increasing,the 1,1-diphenyl-2-trinitrophenylhydrazine(DPPH)radical scavenging rate increases.3% eucommia chlorogenic acid,3% ferulic acid and karanja oil,with the increase of the proportion of the karanja oil in the formula,the anti-UV property of the sunscreen lotion is improved.Under the relative humidity RH is 34% and the color changing silica gel condition,adding 6.76% karanja oil in cream,the cream shows a certain moisturizing performance,which can reduce the evaporation of moisture on the skin surface.Karanja oil has many efficacy such as anti-UV property,moisturizing and scavenging free radicals.
