Since the 21 st century,the demand for hot-rolled strip production capacity has been increasing,which makes hot-rolled strip products more competitive in the market,and the manufacturing industry has higher and higher requirements for the size accuracy and shape of hot-rolled strip.The analysis shows that the core of shape control in strip rolling is the control of roll gap shape,so the initial roll profile is the most direct,flexible and effective means to control the shape of strip.The initial roll profile curve of traditional rolls is mostly cosine curve.With the technological innovation,polynomial curve and parabolic roll profile have been developed.These rolls need to be used in conjunction with other technologies to achieve the optimal effect.Unlike these curves,logarithmic helix has equal angle characteristics.When rolls are hot rolled,the bending deflection and non-uniform thermal expansion of rolls are synthesized.Using this curve roll profile in strip rolling is likely to improve the quality of roll profile.By comparing with cosine roll under the same conditions,the feasibility of application can be obtained.This topic neglects the long and complex wear factors of rolls.It mainly includes three aspects: roll profile design of cosine curve and logarithmic helix,rolling model establishment,rolling process simulation and result analysis.Firstly,the relative crown of the roll is calculated according to the elastic beam theory and the thermal expansion theory,and the equations of the two curves are established according to the given size.The initial roll profile is designed by using the numerical optimization software 1stOpt.Secondly,taking a quarter model,two roll models,cosine curve and logarithmic helix,and the same size roll model,are established in Solidworks software.Finally,in ABAQUS finite element analysis software,under the same load and boundary conditions,the simulation of different rolling speed and reduction is carried out,and the simulation results of rolling force,strip waviness and strip flatness are extracted and compared.The conclusion shows that under the same rolling conditions,the rolling force of logarithmic helix roll profile is about 7% smaller than that of cosine curve roll profile,and the flatness and crown of plate and strip are better than that of traditional cosine roll profile.Logarithmic helix is quite feasible in the optimum design of rolls.
