| The contradiction between environment and economic development is a prominent problem in building a resource-conserving and environment-friendly society and realizing a sustainable development strategy. As a social entity with the purpose of profit, the enterprise should take the responsibility of environmental protection, fulfill its environmental protection obligations, and establish a good social image.Among them, green environmental protection innovation practice is an effective way for enterprises to achieve economic benefits and environmental protection.By adopting green technologies, green processes, producing green products and providing green services,it will help reduce production costs and improve economic performance. However, due to the long-term nature of green environmental protection innovation practice,it is difficult to achieve economic benefits in the short term. Therefore, enterprises generally do not take the initiative to adopt green environmental innovation. In fact, the practice of green environmental protection innovation by enterprises is often under pressure from the outside world.Among them, institutional pressure is the key driving factor for enterprises to adopt green environmental protection innovation practice. At present, the academic sector’s division of institutional pressure mainly draws on Scott and DiMaggio’s point of view. The mechanism of institutional pressure on corporate green innovation practice still needs in-depth research. In the past research, the role of top management in the practice of green environmental protection innovation was neglected. The relationship between institutional pressure, top management participation and green environmental innovation practice was less investigated.Based on the previous studies, this paper focuses on the mediating role of top management participation in institutional pressure and green environmental innovation practice, and further examines the moderating role of resource availability.Based on institutional theory and upper echelons theory, this paper uses SPSS22.0 and AMOS21.0 software to empirically analyze the relationship between institutional pressure and green environmental innovation practice. The study finds that coercive pressure, mimetic pressure and normative pressure have positive effects on green environmental innovation practice. The study finds that coercive pressure, mimetic pressure and normative pressure all have a positive impact on the green environmental innovation practice of enterprises. The greater the external institutional pressure perceived by enterprises, the more they tend to adopt green innovation.Top management participation has a partial mediating role in the study of the relationship between coercive pressure, normative pressure and corporate green environmental innovation practice, and plays a full mediating role between mimetic pressure and corporate green environmental innovation practice, indicating that external institutional pressure can influence enterprises to carry out green environmental innovation practice activities through top management participation.Top management has a subjective initiative in the practice of green environmental innovation. The perception of external pressure by top management will affect their participation in the green innovation practice of enterprises. The study finds that resource availability negatively moderates the relationship between top management participation and green environmental innovation practices, which is contrary to the research hypothesis of this paper. This paper argues that due to the difficulty in issuing and retrieving the questionnaires of top management, and the sample size may not be sufficient to confirm the positive moderation of resource availability,so there may be some deviation from mainstream research.Based on the empirical research, this paper puts forward management suggestions for enterprises to carry out green innovation from the perspective of government and top management. The government should fully consider the adequacy and rationality of relevant environmental protection policies, and replace administrative punishment with economic incentives, encourage enterprises to actively carry out green innovation, and strengthen environmental and ecological protection. In addition, top management should regard green innovation as a potential opportunity for sustainable development and enhance competitiveness, improve participation in green environmental innovation practices, and ultimately achieve a win-win situation for both economic and environmental benefits. |
