In recent years, the deterioration of environmental problems has become a global problem. As an important pillar industry of the national economy, the manufacturing industry still trades for high economic growth at the expense of resource consumption and environmental damage. The huge “ecological deficit” makes the ecological environment pressure faced by China more and more severe. In this context,in addition to the typical innovation spillover effect, green innovation can also be promoted and supported by the state by reducing the external environmental cost of the enterprise and creating the so-called “dual externality”.On the other hand, although manufacturing companies have strong appeals, they lack the economic incentives for their implementation because of their high risk and high investment. Therefore, how to promote or persuade the manufacturing industry to actively and effectively carry out green innovation is becoming a hot issue in academic research.this thesis defines the related theories such as institutional pressure, green innovation and economic consequences by reviewing relevant theoretical research and empirical results at home and abroad, and then constructs the theoretical framework of this thesis based on the analysis of the relationship between the three. The thesis also selected three typical case enterprises of Zhejiang Longsheng,Baogang and Meixinda in China's heavy pollution industry as the research objects. The case analysis method was used to identify the key institutional factors and organizational characteristics of the four green innovation behaviors. It also analyzes the impact of the two on green innovation behavior and the economic consequences of corporate green innovation by using factor analysis and other methods. Finally, through analysis and summary,it attempts to put forward the mechanism of the organization of different green innovation behaviors under institutional pressure. The research in this thesis finds that the corresponding government regulation, market regulation and industry imitation in the external institutional pressure are the most important driving forces for enterprises to implement green innovation. However, the internal strategic orientation and resource capacity of enterprises as indirect variables regulate the enterprises under the pressure of external institutions,i.e.,their perception of environmental management and the ultimate effect of green innovation behavior. The key influencing factors of different types of green innovation models are not identical.Compared with process innovation, green product innovation emphasizes the market-oriented role of external pressure; In the short term, the cost of green innovation will be higher than the economic benefits brought by the company. However,in the long run,the financial performance will show a U-shaped trend, which can achieve a win-win situation between environmental performance and financial performance. Finally, based on the case study conclusions, the enlightenment and suggestions for promoting green innovation in Chinese manufacturing enterprises are given.
