Nowadays, river pollution is becoming more and more serious. It is urgent to protect the river environment and monitor the water quality. The “River Chief System” implemented in Zhejiang Province is a new practice in the construction of ecological civilization in China. In the aspect of water quality monitoring, the traditional monitoring methods have some problems, such as long monitoring cycle, high manual labor, limited monitoring scope and bad timeliness.Aiming at the shortage of current automatic water quality monitoring system, this paper mainly carries out the following research:(1)Designed and implemented a lightweight automated monitoring node which largely solves the shortcomings of current monitoring methods by adopting Internet of Things technology. After obtaining the water quality data, the monitoring node transmits the data to the background system via the MQTT(Message Queuing Telemetry Transport)network protocol.(2)Developed the website system based on B/S and developed Android application software based on C/S,achieved the functions of query, render and visualize water quality data, including geographical distribution of nodes,real-time data, water quality status,etc.(3)For the water quality data monitored by the monitoring nodes in this paper, the feasibility and accuracy of the water quality classification of the monitoring system in this paper were verified by combining BP neural network and SVM algorithm based on GB3838-2002 water quality standard,so as to realize the evaluation and warning of water quality and help the river chief to analyze the water quality.
