Water is the source of life, but along with the increasing number of our population and the accelerating of industrialization process, environmental pollution problems have become more serious, especially the heavily pollution of waters, which directly affect people’s health. So clean water have become the essential part to people’s life and production and the process of technological development now.Although China’s development in water environmental monitoring started late, compared to overseas there is a large gap. But the deterioration of river water quality has caused widespread concern in the community. Some water quality parameters such as water temperature, dissolved oxygen, PH value and other parameters basically rely on manual collection acquisition, it can not be done in real time and accurately monitor, Obviously, timely and accurately grasp the water quality parameters for monitoring water levels and hydrological forecasting are all very important. This paper presents an river water quality monitoring system based on the application of networking technology, the system can monitor the changes in water quality opportunely, and uploaded to the database, directly into the network, its can reduce the burden of manual collection and human intervention, effectively overcome the limitations of wired sensor network, and also greatly reduce the power consumption of the entire network, significantly improving efficiency.Based on wireless sensor network technology and related embedded technology, this paper elaborated a river water quality monitoring system embedded. The system combines detection, display, alarm, communications and other functions in one, including three parts of the sensor terminal node, field displays the node and PC softwarein. Sensor terminal nodes on the water is responsible for the collected water oxygen content, pH, temperature, and other information sent via the wireless sensor system, The shore site display nodes receive data through a wireless gateway, not only can display through the LCD, but also enter data separately SD card or transferred to the PC via the GPRS network to facilitate the recording. PC monitoring section can be completed serial debugging and remote monitoring capabilities. This article focuses on the hardware and software design and implementation of the system, study and design of the hardware circuit ZigBee network each node, fully reflects the low-cost, low-power design.Compared with traditional methods, this system can the system can easily, real-time view of the parameters of the waters, while providing the query function of historical datas,made a useful attempt for upgrading environmental monitoring.
