Biomass energy is one of the most abundant renewable resources,and that developing the bioamss to synthesis clean,renewable fuels and chemicals becomes a hot topic.The electrochemical method conforms to the green chemical principle,which can convert biomass to clean and efficient products.This topic adopts different electrodes and electrolysis system,electrocatalytic valeric acid synthesis fuel and chemicals,and studies the mechanism of electrocatalytic reaction.At first,using the boron doped diamond(BBD)electrode,the electrochemical deoxidation of valeric acid was carried out under the methanol solution generating the methyl ether/methyl acetal products with high total selectivity up to 90%.The electrolysis conditions are optimized,as 0.5 M feed concentration,KOH as supporting electrolyte,VA:KOH=5:5(mol/mol)and 3.5 V vs.Ag/AgCl,and the total selectivity98.7%and faraday efficiency 58%are achieved.As NaClO4 used as supporting electrolyte or excessive alkaline,the products distribution has changed radically to esters.Meanwhile,the rational electrocatalytic mechanism on BDD electrode is developed by GC-MS analysis.Secondly,the nano-Pt electrode prepared by electrodeposition was used as the working electrode,the electrocatalysis of valeric acid was carried out under the water phase system generating the octane products.Under the optimal conditions,the side reaction electrolyzed water was inhibited,achieved the selectivity 57.18%and faraday efficiency 54.74%.At the same time,the experimental results show that the activity of nano-Pt electrocatalytic of valeric acid is dependent on its crystal plane:short range(100)>Pt(110)>long range(100).Finally,nano Pt-Ir particles are prepared by electrodeposition on the basis of nano-Pt particles to synthesize octane under the aqueous phase system,and the effect of adding Ir on the VA electrocatalytic synthesis to octane was investigated.Adjusting the upper potential of deposition,we obtained the metallic Ir and the oxidized Ir.The electrocatalytic activity of the metallic Ir was found to be better,and the introduction of Ir enhanced the electrochemical activity of nano-Pt,and excessived load Ir decreased the activity.
