This paper, based on the surface roughness, cutting force, cutting temperature and cutting vibration as an index to evaluate the cutting performance of alloy steel, discusses the influence of cutting amount on the cutting performance of two kinds of alloy steel GCr15 and 40 CrNiMoA,and finds the best cutting amount. The results of the study are as follows:As the cutting speed is increased, the surface roughness of both the GCr15 and40 CrNiMoA alloy steel is increased, and the surface roughness of the GCr15 and40 CrNiMoA alloy steel gradually increases with the increase of the feed quantity and the cutting depth. In the same cutting condition, the surface roughness value of the GCr15 alloy steel is generally small, and the cutting speed has the most obvious effect on the cutting temperature. With the increase of the feed quantity, the cutting force of the GCr15 alloy steel and the 40 CrNiMoA alloy steel is increased;with the increase of the cutting depth, the cutting force of the two alloy steel of the GCr15 and 40 CrNiMoA is gradually increased, and the cutting speed has no significant influence on the cutting force of the two alloy steel materials. But it can be found from the frequency-domain point of view that the increase of the cutting speed can cause the cutting force to fluctuate violently, and the cutting processing performance of the material can be reduced. In general, the cutting force of the alloy steel is the biggest and the second is the cutting depth.Under the same cutting condition, the cutting force of the GCr15 alloy steel is large, and 40 CrNiMoA alloy steel has less cutting force and better cutting performance. It can be found that the cutting force frequency is the same as that of the saw-tooth chip and is synchronous, and when the cutting speed is increased, the saw-tooth chip frequency is increased, the change of the cutting force is violent, and finally the system is caused to vibrate. And the cutting processing performance of the material is reduced. The result of cutting experiment of alloy steel is combined withthe analysis, and it is found that the vibration acceleration has a tendency to change with the increase of the cutting speed, and it is consistent with the conclusion of the analysis. With the increase of cutting speed, the vibration acceleration of GCr15 and40 CrNiMoA alloy steel increases at first and then decreases, the vibration acceleration of GCr15 alloy steel and 40 CrNiMoA alloy steel increases with the increase of feed rate, and the vibration acceleration of GCr15 and 40 CrNiMoA alloy steel increases with the increase of cutting depth. In frequency domain, the vibration acceleration of GCr15 and 40 CrNiMoA alloy steel increases with the increase of cutting depth and feed rate. And the amplitude of vibration acceleration of GCr15 is generally greater than 40 CrNiMoA alloy steel, poor cutting performance.
