Simultaneous Monitoring Of Short-chained Chlorinated Paraffins In The Urban Air Of Dalian With Active And Passive Sampler

Short-Chain Chlorinated Paraffins(SCCPs),is a new type of persistent organic pollutants(POPs).In May 2017,SCCPs were eventually included in the controlled list of Annex A of the POPs Convention at the Eighth Meeting of the States Parties of the Stockholm Convention(POPs Convention).In this paper,SCCPs in the urban air of Dalian,China were simultaneously sampled by passive and active sampling methods.The pollution levels of SCCPs and the composition of their homologues in the urban air of Dalian in the four seasons during 2016 and 2017 were analyzed.The gas/particle partitioning behavior of SCCPs in the urban air of Dalian was studied.By comparing the results of active and passive samples,the correlation between them was obtained.The feasibility of sampling ambient air SCCPs with our self-developed passive sampler(PAS)was studied.Results indicated that the self-developed passive sampler by our group can sample ambient air SCCPs.During 122 days sampling with PAS,there were good linear correlation between the results of the passive and active samples.Passive and active samples showed comparable congener profiles,and the dominant contributors of SCCPs in the two kinds of samples were similar.The concentration of SCCPs in the gas phase of Dalian air during 2016—2017 sampled by PAS was 1062—4672 ng/PAS,the concentration of SCCPs in the particle phase was 240.1—1121 ng/PAS,and the concentration of ESCCPs(gas phase +particle phase)was 2166—4912 ng/PAS.The ambient temperature had a certain influence on the gas/particle partition process of SCCPs.There were good linear correlation between the logarithm of the gas/particle partition coefficients of SCCPs in the ambient air and the logarithm of their supercooled liquid vapor pressure,and the logarithm of their n-octanol/air partition coefficients.
