With the development of society,a large number of pollutants are discharged from industrial enterprises and people's life, which are harmful to the atmospheric, water and soil environment.Toluene pollution in soil is caused by leakage of storage tanks or explosions. At the same time, atmospheric deposition, toluene migration in groundwater will also harm the soil. Therefore,a passive sampler with simple operation,no power, easy to carry and low cost is needed to monitor toluene in soil.In this paper, the toluene content in the soil environment of typical functional areas was tested and evaluated, and a passive sampling monitoring method for toluene in soil was established, and the toluene content in actual soil was tested and applied.1)The results of toluene test in soil environment of different functional areas around Shijiazhuang showed that toluene content in soil was different in different functional areas. No toluene was detected in surface soil of park, square and school living areas.Toluene was detected in surface soil of four areas, such as reclaimed water station, industrial area, agricultural field and transportation hub, within 50 cm in depth.Four areas were detected from surface soil. The highest toluene content in layered soils at different depths of 50 cm was 15.634 mg·kg-1,14.962 mg·kg-1,5.088 mg·kg-1 and 9.005 mg·kg-1,respectively.The toluene content decreased with the increase of soil depth.2)A passive sampler suitable for soil environment was designed and manufactured. The optimum adsorbent, adsorption time, pretreatment resolution time and toluene ratio in adsorbent/soil were selected.Activated carbon fibers were used as adsorbents to collect toluene gas in soil environment.A passive sampling-headspace/gas chromatography method was established for the determination of toluene gas in soil. The optimum desorption time of the adsorbent was 30 minutes, the desorption efficiency was more than75%,close to 80%,and the RSD of each group was less than 6%;the RSD of sample stability was less than 10%;the RSD of sample repeatability was 3.5%;the recovery rate was between 84% and 110%.3)The results of soil active sampling and passive sampling showed that F = 0.0019,P < 0.001,and the concentration of toluene was significantly correlated with that of passive sampling within the experimental range.
