Environmental pollution was identified as the most serious problem in our country, meanwhile,it was put forward that water quality improvement was the core target during the 13th Five-Year Plan period. Therefore,it is urgent to treat urban sewage and save water resource effectively. The research is dedicated to preparing one kind of novel porous ceramisites with high strength and light weight using fosterite powders as the main raw materials inview of the problems that present ceramisites exist such as higher bulk density, limited specific surface area, second pollution caused by surface modification, and so on.The effects of the microstructures on properties of forsterite-based porous ceramisites are also investigated. This work will contribute suggestions for wastewater treatment and resource saving, and implement the concept waste removal using wastes. This work took forsterite powders and silica-rich ceramic wastes as main raw materials to study the effects of processing parameters and pores structure on the characteristics of forsterite-based porous ceramisites. The detailed results are showed as follows:?1?When the firing temperature is 1050°C,the weight ratio of forsterite powders to porcelain waste is 36:54,samples show better complex properties with strength of119 N,apparent porosity of 51%,closed porosity of 2%,bulk density of 1.27 g·cm-3,water adsorption ratio of 40%,solubility in hydrochloric acid of 8%.?2?Apparent porosity of the specimens using sawdust as pore-forming agent decreases with the particle size of sawdust reducing, and decreases with the increment of sawdust;samples with bran as pore-forming agent show better complex properties with apparent porosity of 49%,closed porosity of 2%,water adsorption of 36%,bulk density of 1.36 g·cm-3,compressive strength of 165 N,and solubility in hydrochloric acid of 8%.?3?The forsterite-based porous ceramisites are capable of removing Cu2+,methylene blue, and gentian violet in the pollution water ascribing to its high apparent porosity and existence of pores with small sizes. The removal ratio of the gentian violet using forsterite-based porous ceramisites as adsorbents is better than Cu2+and methylene blue. The adsorption process of Cu2+and gentian violet are well fitted with Freundlich isotherm, while the adsorption of methylene blue is well fitted with Langmuir isotherm. The influences of apparent porositiy of the specimens on adsorption properties are more remarkable compared with pore size.?4?The forsterite-based porous ceramisites show outstanding biodegradation capability when treating pollution water in the BAF.BOD,COD and NH3-N concentration of the effluent are up to Grade 1 emission standard after treatment using forsterite-based porous ceramisites as media materials.
