With the continuous development of society, the types of accidents and the influencing factors are becoming more and more complicated. The frequent accidents have also brought people great property losses and even threatened personal safety. The most direct and effective way to prevent accidents is using the accident causation model to analyze the cause of the accident. In the hundreds of years of development of the accident causation model, the accident causation model has been well improved.Especially the system model, emerged in response to the complex social environment background, which makes up for the deficiency of traditional accident causation theory, pays attention to the complex dynamic relation between system functions, and better reveals the mechanism of the accident better.Functional resonance analysis method is developed based on the stochastic resonance theory.Unlike other methods,it focuses on the study of how the function changes and how the changes are coupled during normal system operation. This paper reviews the theory of functional resonance analysis.Firstly, the MES method is added to the qualitative analysis to analyze the accident so that the system function can be identified.Secondly,a network map is constructed by using a visual model. Then, the resonance connection is determined and the barrier measures are established. Finally, quantitative improvements are made based on the traditional analysis. In terms of accuracy,an index system with the secondary indicators of control(C),resources(R),and premise(P)is constructed by using a combination of a hexagonal model and AHP.And then the magnitude of its impact on functional changes are calculated. In terms of time, the concept of temporal pressure is introduced to quantify the magnitude of functional changes. From the above two aspects, the size of the change which continuously coupled in the network diagram is calculated to determine whether the function has changed.According to the above methods, this paper analyzes the “6.5” liquefied gas leak and explosion accident of Jinyu Petrochemical, identifies the eight functions and analyzes them qualitatively and quantitatively. After that the resonance connection is determined, and finally the barriers and regulatory measures are established based on the failed connection in order to reduce the probability of similar accidents recurring.
