With the rapid development of the automotive industry,the demand for friction materialsis increasing year by year.While people are pursuing low-cost and high-performance friction material formulations,environmental pollution caused by friction materials has received more attention.Copper has always been an indispensable key component in friction material formulations,but more and more studies have shown that copper in friction materials can cause serious harm to air and water resources,and research on copper-free formulations has become The current research focus of the industry.Therefore,this paper adjusted and optimized the formula through experiments,and prepared fiber-reinforced copper-free friction materials,hoping to play a guiding role in the future design of copper-free friction materials in China.In this paper,the fiber-reinforced copper-free friction material was prepared by the dry hot pressing process.The effects of three key components of phenolic resin,aramid pulp and graphite on the properties of friction materials were studied.,Scanning electron microscope and EDS spectrum analysis were used to analyze the wear mechanism of friction materials.The experimental results show that the type of phenolic resin has a certain effect on the mechanical properties and friction wear of fiber-reinforced copper-free friction materials.The use of phenolic resin with excellent heat resistance as a binder can significantly improve the high-temperature performance of friction materials;While improving the mechanical properties of friction materials,the aramid pulp can also improve the friction and wear performance of the friction materials.The use of 2wt% aramid pulp as the reinforcing component can promote the formation of the friction layer,effectively improve the friction stability and reduce the wear rate;The addition of graphite will adversely affect the mechanical properties of the friction material,but its good self-lubricity can significantly improve the wear resistance and friction stability of the friction material,and contribute to the formation of the friction layer during the friction process.Its good thermal conductivity can also greatly improve the heat resistance of fiber-reinforced copper-free friction materials.Summarizing the laws obtained in the test,the mountain climbing method was used to further optimize the original formula to prepare new fiber-reinforced copper-free friction material samples.Compared with the friction materials used in commercially available brake pads,the results found that: The self-made samples can reach almost the same level of commercially available samples in friction stability and comfort,and have better wear resistance.
