At present,the problem of air pollution caused by Volatile Organic Compounds(VOCs)has become the focus of global attention.There are many ways to govern VOCs,but the adsorption method is the most widely used and cost-effective method in VOCs governance because of its low energy consumption,low cost and simple operation.In the application of adsorption method,the choice of adsorbent is the key to determine the application of adsorption method.Activated carbon is the most widely used VOCs adsorbent because of its advantages such as large surface area,more developed pore structure and low price.However,in the actual industrial applications,most of the emissions of VOCs gas usually contains moisture,some relative humidity even as high as 80%,and most commercial particles on the market activated carbon hydrophobic poor,moisture will occupy most of the active carbon adsorption site,thereby seriously reducing the adsorption capacity of activated carbon VOCs,limiting its practical application.On the basis of literature research,polyethylene benzene(PDVB)was selected as a modifier.Polyethylene benzene,as an organic polymer material of ultra-hydrophobic,has good hydrophobic stability.The squalene benzene solution was combined with commercial,particulate activated carbon by aqueous solution polymerization to obtain modified activated carbon with PDVB hydrophobic structure.The effect of PDVB hydrophobic structure activated carbon on water-containing VOCs adsorption was studied,and the hydrophobic structure of activated carbon surface was identified by using water vapor adsorption instrument,infrared function group analysis and electro-mirror scanning.Studies have shown that:(1)The PDVB coating increases the contact angle of activated carbon surface water,improves the hydrophobic nature of the activated carbon surface,and the greater the amount of spraying,the larger the contact angle of activated carbon water.The modified activated carbon with the appropriate amount of spray can have the highest adsorption capacity for VOCs while maintaining high hydrophobic conditions.(2)After the regeneration of the activated carbon coated with polyethylene benzene by the hot air heating method,the absorption capacity of toluene did not decrease significantly.It is proved that the adsorption process of regenerative activated carbon under high humidity conditions is not affected by water vapor,and the thermal regeneration process may have little effect on polyethylene styles coating.(3)The modification method in this study can still improve the surface hydrophobicity of activated carbon in the amplification experiment,which provides a theoretical basis for industrialization.In addition,this modification method has an effect on the hydrophobic modification of different types of carbon materials.The method used in the paper is simple,the quantity of consumables is small,the preparation condition is mild,can be carried out at room temperature,the preparation of activated carbon modified material scare with hydrophobic surface chemical properties,make up for the high humidity under the porous carbon material easy to absorb moisture,adsorption of the target organic matter capacity of small deficiencies,and modified activated carbon can be recycled,not only save industrial costs,more industrialization laid the foundation.
