Because metallic glass has the characteristics of long range disorder and short range order in micro atomic arrangement,it has high strength,high hardness,high fracture toughness,other excellent mechanical and chemical properties in macro.so it can be widely used in industry,national defense,sports products and medical equipment.However,due to its high hardness,low modulus of elasticity,low thermal conductivity and other characteristics,zirconium based metallic glass has become a typical difficult to machine material.From the existing cutting experiments,it is found that the tool wear is serious and the machining cost is high.The WEDM has the advantages of machining hard and high temperature resistant alloy.Therefore,this paper is based on less academic research on WEDM of zirconium based metallic glass at home and abroad,zirconium based metallic glass,a new hard brittle and hard to process alloy material(Zr41.2Ti13.8Cu12.5Ni10Be22.5),is taken as the research object.The characteristics,process experiments and surface characteristics of zirconium based metal glass produced by WEDM are studied.The main research results are as follows:(1)The characteristics of WEDM of zirconium based metallic glass are studied.Starting from the material characteristics of zirconium based metallic glass,through the study of its thermal,electrical and mechanical properties,the feasibility of WEDM of metallic glass is analyzed.After that,the machining principle of WEDM is deeply analyzed.Based on the principle of WEDM and the characteristics of zirconium based metallic glass materials,the machining characteristics of WEDM are explored.(2)The experiment of WEDM for zirconium based metallic glass was carried out.Because there is no WEDM Process Parameters for reference,it is difficult to determine the range of WEDM parameters,so the pre experiment is carried out first.Then,a single factor experiment was carried out to explore the influence of peak current,pulse width and peak voltage on material removal rate and surface integrity.(3)The parameters of WEDM for zirconium based metallic glass are optimized.In the experiment,the orthogonal experiment of L16(45)was designed,and the optimal combination of processing parameters was obtained by variance analysis.At the same time,the significance and primary and secondary order of the influence of each parameter on material removal rate and surface integrity are analyzed.It is found that the primary and secondary order of the influence of processing parameters on material removal rate is peak current > pulse width > peak voltage,while the primary and secondary order of the influence of processing parameters on material removal rate is pulse width > peak current > peak voltage.(4)The surface performance of WEDM is analyzed.Under the condition of single factor test,the friction and corrosion resistance of workpieces processed with different pulse width are explored.It is found that in the process of tribology experiment,the surface wear resistance of the workpiece after WEDM is increased;In the experiment of corrosion resistance,when the pulse width is 2?m and 6?m,the corrosion resistance of the workpiece is improved,while when the pulse width is 10 ?m and 14 ?m,the corrosion resistance of the workpiece is decreased.
