As thermoplastic engineering plastics,ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene?UHMWPE?has excellent overall performance in solid state.But its extremely high melting viscosity,it is difficult to direct extrusion processing.So it is great theoretical and practical value to improve the processing performance of the materialwithout compromising its excellent performance.On the basis of its processing and molding,the impact strength and toughness of the material can be improved.In this paper,UHMWPE was modified by using low molecular weight polyethylene,high density polyethylene?HDPE?,low density polyethylene?LDPE?and polypropylene?PP?were blended with ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene respectively,in order to improve its processing liquidity.And the physical properties,the material morphology and molecular structure,thermodynamic properties,surface morphology and flow performance were tested after processing.UHMWPE:PP=100:25 was selected as the optimalformula for liquidity modification.On the basis of this formula,CaCO3 and compound auxiliaries maked by heating and mixing of polyethylene glycol 2000 and white diatomite.This formula improves the toughness of the material based on less loss of tensile strength in the material.When the content of compound auxiliaries is 15%,the toughness of the material is the best of all the samples.Its elongation at break reaches 500%,which increased by279.2%compared to the control samples.While the energy absorbed by the fracture increased by 343.8%.And on the basis of using the same filler,conventional PP was changed by maleic anhydride grafted polypropylene?PP-g-MAH?,which has better compatibility and dispersibility,the toughness of the material has also been significantly improved.Combined with the macroscopic characteristics of the material,the micro-characteristics and mechanism of UHMWPE are also discussed in depth,which is instructive for practices.
