The current fabrics with sectional weft structures are widely used in industrial textiles and traditional decorative fabrics,such as bifurcated woven artificial vascular,kesi,Lijin,and so on.However,the weaving technology of these products mainly relies on hand or semi-automatic weaving.On the one hand,when weaving fabrics with sectional weft structure characteristics such as bifurcated woven artificial vascular,the weft insertion method on a common automatic loom was used,and the method leads to difficulty in controlling weft yarn tension and yarn entanglement during the weaving process;On the other hand,when weaving the traditional decorative fabrics with sectional weft structures such as kesi and Lijin,we mainly used fully hand weaving.The weaving efficiency was very low,and the product price was high,and few young people were willing to engage in related industries.The non-material cultural heritages are facing the dilemma of losing.At present,automatic weaving of fabrics with sectional weft structures was lack of aproper automatic weft insertion technique.Therefore,in the research,the automatic weft insertion technology was explored to realize automatically weaving of fabrics with sectional weft structures.The study analyzed the current manual weft insertion technology and automatic weft insertion technology,and combined with the servo electric cylinder control technology.Then,a design strategy of the automatic weft insertion mechanism was created,and the spatial positional relationship of each mechanism and the mutual interaction relationship between them were investigated.The core hardware andrelated software of the weft insertion mechanism were selected and designed.The designed weft insertion mechanism was installed a model rapier loom,and the feasibility and rationality of the weft insertion mechanism design were verified by the single machine debugging in the single step and automatic weaving mode.In this process,the rapier catching mechanism was further optimized to improve the quality of the weft insertion.After the function of weaving fabrics with sectional weft structure was basically realized,the limitation of the weft insertion mechanism and its applicability were analyzed.Design principles of fabrics with sectional weft structures on this automatic loom was further studied.The four-forked fabrics and the color strip fabrics were weaving on the loom that was capable to realize sectional weft insertion,and the rationality of the weft insertion mechanism was further tested.
