Impregnated diamond bits play an extremely important role in the drilling of hard and strongly abrasive formations and meanwhile the performance of impregnated diamond bits needs to be better.There are problems that the research on the wear law of the impregnated diamond bit is not deep enough,and the research on the wear equation of the diamond impregnated diamond bit is lacking,which will lead to improper design of bits problems and will cause the bit drilling speed is too slow or the wear rate is too fast.For these problems,this paper has studied the parameters that has impact on the wear performance of impregnated diamond bits and established the wear equation through the theoretical analysis and the laboratory experiment for the purpose of providing theoretical support for bit selection,bit optimization design and drilling parameters optimization.The results of study showed that:(1)The diamond parameters and matrix hardness have a significant impact on wear performance of impregnated diamond bits:(1)With the increase of diamond size,the wear rate significantly increased.(2)With the increase of diamond concentration,the wear rate significantly decreased.(3)The wear rate decreases as the increasing of the matrix hardness.(4)With the increase of diamond size,concentration and matrix hardness,the decreasing trend of wear rate and drilling rate slowed down.(2)Comprehensively consider the rock breaking performance and wear performance,when drilling medium abrasive formation,the optimal diamond size is 40/45 mesh,and the best diamond concentration is 90%.It is recommended that the matrix hardness range from 35 to 40 HRC.(3)The drilling parameters and rock abrasiveness also have a significant impact on wear performance of impregnated diamond bits:(1)With the increase of WOB,the rock wear rate is increased by the power function.(2)The wear rate increases linearly with the increase of rotational speed.(3)The wear rate increases linearly with the increase of rock abrasiveness.(4)The wear rate equation related to three variables(WOB,rotational speed and rock abrasiveness)of impregnated drill bits has been established,and the correctness of impregnated drill bits wear rate equation has been verified by the error comparison between calculated values and measured values of 16 groups examples.
