The strategies in the Air Pollution Prevention Action Plan?2013-2017?that have significant impacts on CO2 emissions are selected and the impact of each strategies on CO2emissions are estimated.Based on the targets set in the various measures,the Greenhouse Gas and Air Pollution Interactions and Synergies model?GAINS-China?was used to simulate the2012 and 2017 emissions scenarios of various provincial administrative regions across the country.Calculate the the emissions of major atmospheric pollutants and CO2 in 2012 and the emission after different measures taken in the year 2017,the atmospheric pollutants and CO2emission reductions that may be generated by various measures are obtained,and the three major factors,the co-benefits,the relative co-benefits,and the equivalent co-benefits are used to analyze the co-benefits of pollutants and different industries on CO2 emission reduction in each province and city.Study focus on the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and Jiangsu-Zhejiang-Shanghai regions.The results show that air pollution reduction implemented throughout the country can significantly reduce the national air pollutants and CO2 emissions,and show a strong co-benefits of CO2 emission reduction while reducing pollutants.Analysis using co-benefits and relative co-benefits shows that PM2.5.5 has the most significant co-benefit on CO2 emission reduction for its lowest emission factor among major air pollutants.In major industries,industry has shown the highest emission reduction co-benefits for CO2.The relative co-benefits of PM2.5.5 on CO2 reduction in Beijing and Shanghai are lower than those in other regions due to the control strategies to reduce the bulk coal consumption.Among the major industries involved in the strategies,industrial CO2 emission reduction has the highest co-benefits.Self-supplied boilers,self-supplied power stations,and the conversion of industrial facilities will significantly reduce atmospheric pollutants and CO2,and have high co-benefits,which should be accelerated in the future.
