In order to deeply treat petrochemical wastewater with low COD concentration,several polymer porous materials are used as adsorbents.Three common commercially available porous adsorption resins D301,XAD-4,and NDA-150 were selected.The resins were characterized by IR,SEM and BET,and static and dynamic adsorption of low concentration petrochemical wastewater were carried out.Based on the analysis of the structure and adsorption properties of several resins,a new porous adsorption resin was designed and synthesized in order to obtain better adsorption treatment effects on the wastewater.A novel polystyrene?PS?microsphere adsorption resin was synthesized by one-step synthesis of styrene,butyl acrylate and polymerizable quaternary ammonium salt by emulsion polymerization.The adsorption and regeneration performance of the material and three commercially available adsorption resins D301,XAD-4,and NDA-150 were compared.The characterization results of PS microsphere adsorption resin indicated that the synthetic resin has irregular spherical shape with particle diameter between 0.20.4 mm.The COD of low concentration petrochemical wastewater can be reduced from 100 mg·L-1 to 20 mg·L-1 or less within 24 h.The adsorption data of PS microsphere adsorption resin were fitted by Langmuir and Freundlich equations.The results showed that the adsorption behavior of the resin on the petrochemical wastewater was close to that of the monolayer.The saturated adsorption amount reached 89 mg·g-1.The static and dynamic adsorption experiments showed that this material has better adsorption effect than other commercially available resins for the adsorption of pollutants in this type of petrochemical wastewater.After several kinds of resins were saturated and adsorbed,the adsorption resin were regenerated by ozone oxidation.The regeneration results showed that the synthesized PS microsphere adsorption resin could be recycled more than 4 times,which has better regeneration performance than other conventional adsorption resins.This material has simple synthesis method,high saturated adsorption capacity and good regeneration performance,and can be used as a good adsorbent for treating petrochemical wastewater in an advanced treatment process of low-concentration wastewater.
