With the development of the society,the market demand for the surface quality of stainless steel is increasing day by day.For the stainless steel plate with higher surface quality requirements,the isometric crystal ratio of its continuous casting billet is closely related to the occurrence of waviness.However,due to the extremely developed columnar crystal and high superheat,the isometric crystal ratio of stainless steel is difficult to form,especially for steel types such as SUS430 and SUS410 S,which can only achieve 30%-40% at home and abroad.Therefore,it is very valuable to study the effect of electromagnetic stirring in secondary cooling zone on the quality of stainless steel billet.In this paper,two kinds of secondary cooling zone of a domestic stainless steel factory electromagnetic stirring as the research object,through the numerical simulation to establish a three-dimensional finite element model of secondary cooling zone electromagnetic stirring parameters such as size,frequency by changing the current size,analyze the form corresponding to the magnetic field distribution,magnetic induction intensity,electromagnetic thrust,energy efficiency,etc.,and through post-processing generate visual images,tables,etc,according to which intuitive description of the electromagnetic stirring performance parameters and best use.The quality test of stainless steel slab by electromagnetic stirring in secondary cooling zone was carried out to further verify the accuracy of the simulation calculation.The main research results are as follows:(1)For 430 stainless steel,the use of secondary cooling zone electromagnetic stirring can increase the casting billet isometric crystal ratio;(2)The optimal use current and frequency of box-type electromagnetic stirring in the secondary cooling zone are respectively 1200 A and 10Hz;The optimal use current and frequency of roller electromagnetic stirring in secondary cooling zone are 500 A and 7Hz respectively.(3)Under the optimal operating parameters,the magnetic induction intens ity at the center of the roller electromagnetic stirring casting billet in the secondary cooling zone is 2.35 times that of the box electromagnetic stirring in the secondary cooling zone,and the electromagnetic force is 3.88 times that of the box electrom agnetic stirring in the secondary cooling zone.The box type electromagnetic stirring efficiency in the secondary cooling zone is very low.(4)Under the optimal operating parameters,the test on the influence of slab quality shows that the equiaxial crystal ratio of the box type electromagnetic stirring in the secondary cooling zone can reach 45%,which cannot meet the production demand of stainless steel 430;Under the optimal parameters of roller electromagnetic stirring in the secondary cooling zone,the equiaxial crystal ratio can reach more than 60%,which can meet the production requirements of stainless steel 430.
